I was recently playing battlefield 1 and it got me thinking about their use of a phone app to replace their in game menu. I decided to try out their app so I can set some of my loadouts in between matches and discover that they hid some of their customization there that doesn't show up in game (setting your tag, vehicle variants). After I'm finally able to get the loadouts set because the app crashed 4 times, I load up a game and find that not only are the loadouts not what I set them to, it deleted my previous in game loadouts and reset everything to the defaults.

It seems like they made a completely nonfunctional stat and loadout menu, then passed that off to their piece of shit phone app.I'm really enjoying the gameplay but I can't figure out who its supposed to help by removing loadout and medal pages from the main menu page.

I haven't played a battlefield game in a while so has this became the norm while I wasn't watching?

I don't get it either, why didn't they just create a webpage for BF1 like they did for BF3, BF4 and Hardline? Doesn't make sense, really.

I think BF 4 did that also. From what i remember hearing. I recall a big thread about that way back when.

Then there was that Destiny app, that was pretty much mandatory if you were going to play the game socially.

It seems to be a trend to get people to download Apps since everyone and this kid has a smartphone now.

Welcome to the future.

They have a webpage. Just go to the BF1 website and click into the Companion webpage, from there you can log in and modify your loadouts, unlock stuff etc.. It is how I do pretty much all my unlocking and loadout management.

Games shouldnt take me out of the game to do shit in game. I refuse to use the phone app and am limited because of it. That is some stupid bullshit.

You can actually choose your vehicle variants in game, from the spawn menu.

This is the first game I've gotten in the BF series (to play multiplayer that is) and I'm absolutely baffled that you have to either download an app or join a game to customize your classes.

How in the fudruckers can something so freaking basic (customizing your class) be so stupidly complicated and convuluted? It's not exactly a deal breaker but this seems like a pretty basic function that EA has managed to royally cock up...

I noticed but it's not nearly as useful as the ones they created for the previous games.

Thanks for the responses and I saw that you guys are right and you can change vehicle variants in game by selecting one to spawn in and hitting Y/triangle. Just don't take to long or it will take the spawn from you so yay for in game customization.

Adding on to my earlier BF1 rant, why the fuck did they make the medals so that you can only "track" your progress on one of 5 weekly medals. I'm guessing that they wanted to make it more of a challenge to get a specific medal by giving you a rotating time window to get it in. Might even have been a cool idea if:
A. you pay attention and have enough time to select a medal while initially loading into the map, the only place you can select one afaik.
B. the medal you select actually starts tracking and then tracks your progress.
C. the medal you select is actually selectable, since the rotating weekly window is fucked and won't roll over to the new set.

Holy fuck, how hard are they trying to make a fun game needlessly frustrating.
