i know the majority of us here are fans of battlefield 2 or the majority of the battlefield series, what i like about the BF games is the freedom you have. you can snipe, you can drive a tank into the enemy base or you can fly a helicopter with your best freind (or a stranger) as a gunner

one thing id really love to see in this game is massive maps (obvious for battlefield game), it also like to see a 4 man AC-130 with a pilot and 3 gunners. another cool idea would be having transport aircraft like chinooks and C-130s and using them as mobile spawn points this would be really cool because they have to be protected from being shot down if you want to parachute in. mobile sam trucks would be a good defense against large aircraft and must be destroyed before taking-off

It's probably not going to happen but I'd like to see it somewhere towards Battlefield 2142.

Man I loved that game... Titan battles were the absolutely amazing.

Desert Combat Mod did a good job with that, I hope to see it too.

Now, I love the BF series, but 2 is the one I love the least... no wait, it's 2142, but in any case I didn't enjoyed 2 as I did enjoy 1942 and Vietnam. And with the cliffhanger ending of BF:BC2 I was expecting a sequel to that, so BF3 is kinda dissapointing to me ATM.
I expect it to be a good game, but I still wanted to see a BF:BC3 instead.

I wouldn't mind another Battlefield: Vietnam. I've enjoyed that one the most of all the BF games, possibly due to being able to listen to Ride of the Valkyries while dropping napalm >:D

Anyway, large maps, terrain that can conceal the player, loads of vehicles, planes, choppers, etc. Or set it in during the Hundred Years War, that would be fine as well...

Personally I'd enjoy a remake of Battlefield 2, but with it actually being -good-.

The concept is great, but the player-base needs a solid wringing out and the weapons need a boost up to the realm of reality.

Hmm...Something in the way of character customization would be kind of neat though. I'm starting to be kind of annoyed at game developers for making the support characters carrying light-machine guns black. I remember seeing at least one white gunnery Sergent during my time.

Did you read the rest of my post?

I want it to be like 2142 but it probably won't happen.

You should reinstall. The northern strike x pac is now free after you download the 1.5.1 (I think thats it) patch. They have also added Strike at Karkand as a map.

OT;
Honestly I am hoping for an updated version of battlefield 2. I had few.... if any gripes about BF2.

Don't worry, happens sometimes.

I'm sure BF3 will happen. I just enjoyed 2142.

Finallly another person that remembers that game. I loved the progression and customization. Why did it die out.

'Modern Warfare' shooters are generally more popular than Sci Fi shooters...

God knows why...

Well there is halo to the other side of that argument. 2142 the campaign was a bit lacking but I loved the multiplayer. It all fit very well together for me.

Halo is really popular.

But games like UT3, 2142 all seem to not sell as well as they should...

DICE have said in the past that they design their games to be more accessible to get a larger player base, and that it leaves realism to modders. So we aren't likely to see massive maps, chinooks, realistic weapon stats, etc. without mods. Especially since it's going to be released on consoles too (I hate to be the one to say it, but we all know it's true).

Here's hoping Project Reality moves to BF3.
