Comparing Battlefield games and Call of Duty games is a tricky business. This is made even harder by the fact that they both have very mainstream games coming out soon. I basically loved battlefield bad company.

It was a shooter, sure and I?m not exactly a frat boy in a community college. In fact I lie about my age just to get on about 90% of the websites I go on, I?m a male teenager so you can guess what kind most of them are but that?s beside the point. Bad Company had its fair share of problems. But felt realistic. Sure you couldn?t go prone but that at least stopped camping. Ok, that?s like saying that my house burnt down but at least now I don?t have to tidy my room. It?s a great sacrifice that stops a small hindrance so its kinda me being the positive annoying fuck that I am. But the game felt realistic! It had classes that were similar to real life and the constant explosions happening around you really immersed you into the game. I didn?t have those dickheads trying to do a 540 no scope and failing 99.9% of the time.

One of the few things I do like about the Call of Duty games is how out spoken the community is. Sure they make insult you and compare you mum to a camel all while using the 3 repetitive words that rhyme with Duck, Shunt and Brickhead. But I just found this funny and it was nice to talk to someone unlike the people on Battlefield who must think that a microphone is a studded 20 inch dildo because only the really weird people have them. Battlefield games feel like they are packed with love and cookies. They might not come out as often as Cod but I always feel like they are more polished. For example Vehicle Combat in Battlefield feels nice. The maps were clearly made to incorporate tanks and helicopters. While the only recent COD game in my opinion that tried it was Call of duty: world at war. It feels like it was just stuck in at the end randomly. The vehicles themselves felt well done but the maps felt really restrictive for vehicle combat. It?s like a serial killer spending ages sharpening a knife until it was a fairly good tool. Then inviting his next victim around for tea intending to kill off them straight at the start. But forgetting about it all, have a slightly undercooked meal and say good bye to them at the door, then remembering why they were here in the first place, grabbing your knife and jamming it in them quickly just before they left. Sure it?s in there but it was just too messy to be proud of.

I would just like to get this point across this my view on the games and just because I didn?t favour your Game (Call of duty *cough*) sorry. Doesn?t mean it?s bad. I don?t play a lot of Shooters and I?m a bit of a noob at both games to be honest. But I did favour Battlefield much more than any of the call of duty games. But? and I hate to say this I probably will pick up Modern Warfare 3. I?m sure it will be an average game will no love and was just made to fatten the creator?s wallets but Call of Duty is fun. I could never play it seriously but my friends will get it and I?ll feel left out of my very, very, very small circle of friends if I don?t play with them from time to time. I have no doubt in my mind that I will buy battlefield 3 although both these games are just to fill my time until Skyrim. So fuck off frat boys!

Welcome to the Escapist.

Versus threads are frowned upon.

As are Wall o' texts.

But anyway, both games are good and have their merits, although the loudest people here will shit on Call of Duty faster than you can type out your argument.

Ah well.

CoD vs BF is one of the most pointless debates in gaming history.
Two very different games and yet for some reason people think that one needs to be better than another.
I kind of blame EA for this with their whole campaign of trying to "diss" CoD with their Bad Company ads and their constant need to say they are going to beat CoD.
I really wish I could meet whoever is in charge of this concept and ask them how they plan to beat CoD. I mean you can only really beat someone by beating them at their own game. You're releasing a very different game!
It's like saying I'm going to beat you at football by playing rugby. Sure they have some similarities but they are still very different.

I don't have Xbox Live to play those games online. Nor do I own or play any of those games.

However, I'd pick Battlefield. Call of Duty is all about soloing, considering that there are no engineers for repairing vehicles (as there are no vehicles in CoD except in the campaign), and no medics for reviving dead teammates. Battlefield, on the other hand, does involve teamwork, as it has actual vehicles waiting to be utilized, engineers to repair said vehicles, and medics for reviving fallen teammates.
No Medics in BF3. Instead the support class will have medipacks. It is a shame because the medic was the easiest newb class in all the previous games. You just had to follow the more experienced players and revive them.

I think it is more apt to compare Battlefield with TF2, Monday Night Combat, Enemy Territory and other class based shooters. COD should be compared with Half Life, Halo, Duke Nukem and Soldier of Fortune.
