Dancing with wheelchair users...yes you read that right. What's next? Wheelchairs on Ice?!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8072141.stm

I mean I don't mind what wheelchair users get up to, really, but doesn't it seem a bit pathetic and desperate for the BBC to do this kind of show, they're really scraping the idea barrel pretty freakin thin.

Thoughts?

I've long since stopped being surprised at the depths the human race will go to.

And the worst thing is that this will be marketed as "helping" people.

Oooh the famous line.

"It'd be a dream come true to win this competition, you'd be helping me follow my dream."

WHAT? Your dream was to be a wheel-chair dancer? Wow...

Why would people do this, I am not against it because it has wheelchairs, I am against it because I hate these shows.

If anything they should get wheelchair basketball players and the winner gets to be in the BBC One montage. That'd be a cool prize. Plus basketball's cool.

That wouldn't suprise me in the slightest. It was probably the whole idea behind the pitch to the producers. "We want people to empathise with a certain disabled group of people, we want to show that we care, let's have dancing with wheelchair users!"

And judging it!? So many minefields

Oh good. Another dance show. Those haven't been done to death yet.

Unfortunately, this appears to be how the BBC thinks at the moment. They seem to be on a relentless quest to be as politically correct as is physically possible.

Whats bugging me more is the relentless way every show has to cram 'celebrity' in there somewhere, especially with quiz shows like Mr & Mrs and Family Fortunes, ok, they were pretty tame and mediocre family entertainment but is a celebrity family any more interesting than a regular one, if you only know one of them ( and with the current definition of celebrity, maybe not even know one).

As for the celeb aspect...

Gold medallist Mark Foster, actor Kevin Sacre, rugby legend Martin Offiah and presenter Caroline Flack have all signed up to compete.

Anyone heard of any of them?

Honestly, celeb shows, if you can't get me Christopher Walken, or at least Johnny Ball, or that slaphead from the Crystal Maze, don't bother.
