Be honest with me...how likely is it that evil within will be good?

I've been hoping it will be, and it being October, in the spirit of the season, I'm tempted to pre order a copy. This question holds extra meaning due to alien isolation apparently being good (I was burned by colonial marines, so I was cynical). I'm honestly a little
More interested in evil within as it has been ages since I got to explore a good old creepy mansion. Unless you count luigis mansion 2. It also seems to have a nice mix of conventional killers and supernatural monstrosities as enemies. So, what odds do you put on this gamble?

Too early to tell. It *looks* amazing (flat out stupid recommended specs aside) but then...so did Destiny and Hellgate: London. And Neverwinter Nights 2. And RE5.

I can, just from the title and the adds, pretty much predict a major plot twist however (I hope I'm wrong).

I will be picking it up though, unless the reviews are putrid.

Yeah, that's my thoughts. I haven't pre-ordered a damn thing since Aliens Colonial marines, and I was hype as hell for that when it came out.

Pretty high, I'd think. The director is Shinji Mikami himself, father of the Resident Evil series (The early ones. I think the last one he had a hand in was 4)

I would hold off until you see reviews and not because of my usual spiel of "it could be bad because your looking at highly controlled marketing material" (but you are making a purchasing decision off of highly controlled marketing material, thats not trustworthy). This time I would hold off because everyone I know thats actually played it thinks its at best mediocre and at worst completely missing the point of what survival horror is. One of the things that really turned me off was I guess at times a randomly spawning mob that can 1 shot you appears in the map to chase you down. You cant hide from it, you can only run. However because its randomly spawning it has the chance to spawn in front of you on the linear paths cutting off any escape.

As I hear it the game is littered with a lot of bad design decisions like that. So yeah, I would hold off and wait for reviews

Mikami is an uneven director, I don't think his presence is any kind of quality warranty. Game looks as amazing as any other before its release, though I appreciate gameplay in its trailer. So I don't know. I'd but it myself.

If the game play very close like Resident Evil 4, then we have a 10/10 game.
Maybe it doesn't look enjoyable, but we must try it at first to say for sure.

I would hold off. What I've heard from a couple people who played it at E3, people seemed to find it more annoying than scary. Basically the main mechanic that's supposed to make the game scary is that randomly the screen will flash red and a super powerful guy with a chainsaw will appear and start chasing you. He can run through walls and kills you in one hit (unless you have full health, in which case you'll be brought down to one health). The problem is that when I say random I mean RANDOM. You can be solving a puzzle, fighting a group of enemies, or climbing up a ladder and he'll just show up and kill you. At E3 apparently most of the people playing the demo just got frustrated and gave up before finishing it. Granted, this is just a demo and it could have changed since then, but if the majority of the people at E3 didn't enjoy the game enough to finish a 20 minute demo, that may not be the best sign. It could be great but I would say wait. This isn't a super anticipated game so I doubt you'll be fighting people for copies of the game. Just wait until there are at least a few reviews out, before making a decision.

And if you want to see where I got my information about the game, they talk about it about 35 minutes in to this video

It is Mikami's return to survival horror so I have no doubt it will be atleast 'good'. I mean, this is the guy that created Resident Evil and re-invented third person shooters. He's an amazingly talented game-designer. Having said that though, going by previews the game does seem to be a refinement of the RE4 formula rather than breaking any new ground. Almost like, the sequel to RE4 we never got. :p

I expect a slower, more suspenseful RE4 type game with a hammy plot. And I'm totally fine with that. It is signature Mikami. The guy created some of my most favorite games to date and I have every reason to believe Evil Within will deliver as well.
