So I started playing Tales of Symphonia the other day. I already played and beat Tales of Graces f for the PS3, and loved it, and the characters. Im not too far into Symphonia yet, but as I watch the intro, seeing all my eventual party members, it dawns on me that if I end up loving all these characters as I get to know them, that now is the time to remember when I didnt.

Just as I first saw Graces' intro and not knowing any of the characters, yet now am so familiar with them. I particularly loved Malik and Pascal.

I dont know where I am aiming this discussion exactly...I suppose do any of you think about that time before and after you cared about the characters of a game? Doesnt have to be an RPG, could be anything. Actually, could be anything, game, book, anime, movies, whatever.

(Was gonna post this in gaming, but decided to widen the criteria)

Hmm. I sort of feel that way about Persona 5 right now. I kept waiting for every scrap of information about the game to come out. I was excited to see the full cast list. Those characters are still total strangers, but if the other games are anything to go by then I'll end up falling in love with the whole class.

I still remember the time where I thought Yuuki Terumi's yellow jacket looked silly and didn't fit his character in BlazBlue when I first got CP:EX. Now he's easily the most fun character in the entire franchise to me and the jacket is what i've termed as stylishly obnoxious. Holy shit that moveset is amazing.

How can you not love a character whose entire moveset is based around stomping people to death. He's the only character who keeps attacking the guy once the match is over too. Walks on over, stomps them once then walks off the screen with an insult. Terumi is a work of art, I mean look at this.

I don't know why, but a lot of androids tend to catch my attention and I later find them endearing, with KOS-MOS from the Xenosaga series and Aigis from Persona 3 to name a few.

It's something about expecting them to be the no-nonsense, brutally analytical, and powerfully dangerous members of your party and later finding out that they are deeper and more emotional than what was perceived of them, really makes a lasting impression for me.

I mean, yeah, they are exactly what you assume them to be (especially the dangerous part), but the things you don't expect from them is what makes them memorable.

The Arkham series. I thought that Batman's suit was ugly as sin, the combat looked ridiculous, and it was dumb that Batman glided all over the place.

Five years later, it's one of my favorite game series.
