Man, is anyone else sick of this being thrown around so much? It's like, if anyone has an opinion on anything at all, that happens to be of a negative connotation, this is the first thing some people jump to! Or, when you are in an argument with someone, they will attempt to end it by saying "Well lol you're just butthurt over it."

It is sad that so many people resort to apathy over all matters, and then feel compelled to trash where they live/economic status/politics because actually taking a stance on something would make them "butthurt" to the other side of the argument. As a retaliatory tool in an argument, calling someone "butthurt" is one of the lowest things you can do, in my opinion. Yes, certain things are not serious, like the internet, but in reality, that is all subjective anyways, right? If someone has invested their time in making a point to you, and you fire back that they care too much, didn't you care just as equally to make an opposite point?

Now, before everyone starts saying how b-hurt I am over the topic, let's have a little discussion: How do you feel when someone says this to you? Do you give up, or come right back at them? Is there any use? Are you a person who uses this term, and if so, why do you do it?

That has never been said to me. But I'd probably just walk away. To much contact to stupid can be dangerous.

I'm sorry, what now? I've never exprienced this phenomenon, and I have to say I'm glad, it just seems like something 12 year olds throw around, which I'm kind of used to on the internet.

Well, considering this is the first time I've heard it being used, no.

The "butthurt" thing has about the same intellectual equivalent of "Well, Fuck you!", or "Nyu-uuuuh!". When I hear someone say this, I just cut ALL forms of communication with them. It's just not worth talking to those kinds of people.

lol, ur just butthurt

I tend to find people who use that term to be 12 year old kids whose balls haven't dropped yet.

I don't want to be a dick or anything, but you do see the irony of this statement, right?
I see what you did there.

Fair enough, then obviously this would not apply to you. For that, I am glad. Trust me, this is not a figment of my imagination, just another fad on the web I have noticed, and wanted to get some opinions on. Those who know what I'm talking about should be able to provide some insight.

Sociopaths don't get butthurt, let alone feel affected by being called one.

Just stop being a crybaby and your problems will be solved.
I'm pretty sure this is sarcasm, mixed with... a life lesson? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but I don't have it in me to be a sociopath. I have two kids now, it isn't really an option.

If the person in an argument resorts to personal attacks then he has automatically admitted defeat, don't take it to personaly just know that you've won.

EDIT: more on topic, me and my friends use it to describe people who piss us off, like "that chick is such a butthurt." That kind of thing. It's more of a joke if anything.

I've never had anyone say it to my face. Although I have seen people say it on the escapist. If they say it there usually trying to see how angry they can get someone or there just fan boys who've lost the argument.

By the sounds of it, I'm glad I haven't heard this yet. In any case, what are you doing talking to a person who can't make an equally intelligent, factually based argument against what you are saying anyway? I mean, if they just say they don't care (and it's been used against me) they just don't have anything else to say. Seems the same here.

I've never heard that word before. Actually I thought it referred to, uh, overuse of exits as entrances.

Wow. I expected that more people would have heard of this.
Yeah, I've heard the term before. It doesn't bother me to a large extent, but I don't like the idea of people taking shots at each other.

If you're thinking what I'm thinking, you might have the right idea. I think the term is basically a more offensive way of calling someone a girl. You should know what I mean by that.

I would consider what the OP is describing a misuse of the term. To me, "butthurt" refers to someone who has lost an argument/game/whatever, but actively refuses to admit it gracefully and goes on whining, bitching, and clinging to defeated arguments. It is in no way shape or form an attack on a person's lack of apathy. What you're thinking of is the "it's just a game" argument or an equivalent line of retard-born semi-thought.
