Berserk TGS trailer: Okay... getting a tad hyped.

So TGS came with a new trailer for Berserk Warriors, or as it's officially called Berserk and the Band of the Hawk.


And while gameplay wise there's not much new (how could there be in a Warriors game), there's a boat load of fanservice that got the fanboy in me just bouncing up and down. Apart from Judeau being playable, Tecmo Koei seems to be putting a lot of work into recreating the story in cutscenes, even with the recent Berserk movies aparently serving as extra story filler. There's a scene where we see Shierke applying the seal to Guts' brand (yay, ingame Shierke), and a scene that shows the Egg of the Perfect World. And especially the latter one I doubt will be a selectable fighter.

And beyond that we see Wyald, Slan, Skullknight, Zodd, Farnese, Serpico, Isidro, Mozgus, and Puck, both in his regular and onion form. So yeah, whole lotta fan ministrations going on. And I'm kinda okay with it. I say, hit me with your most blatant shot Tecmo Koei.

Second thought: Most brutal dynasty warrior game? That...actually that's probably true.

Third thought: Honestly didn't think about playing as other members of the Hawk, that's a nice addition. Hope we get Pipin, won't cry if we don't get Corkus.

Fourth thought: Well it looks like this game is a bit ambitious. It, at the very least, wants to cover from the Golden Age to the cave trolls. I have to look up exactly when that takes place to be sure, but that's easily half of the current manga right there.

Fifth thought: Puck. FUCK! If he makes a Hulk Hogan reference again I'm going to scream.

Sixth thought: Ok, I'm actually moderately interested now.

While I'm really excited from it I'm wondering if they'll be able to pull a Hyrule Warriors with it and actually make enough content in it to keep playing after the story without it getting really repetitive.

First thought. FOR FUCK'S SAKE can they stop leading ads with Casca's rape scene?

Oh, look forward to usual suspects getting all up in THAT detail. A strong female character getting raped and consequently suffering mental illness because of it? Western critics are going to LOVE that.
Also it's the pivotal event in the story and easily the biggest, most memorable shocking part of the story. It basically provides all of Guts's motivation for everything post-eclipse.

I really have to question how that scene would pull people in. You'd think people would play this game because A. they like Dynasty Warriors (I don't) or B. they like Berserk (I do, which is the pull for me). I really just can't see that as being a draw. Not an effective one anyway.

Don't remind me. For some reason the Count and the Lost Children arc got cut out of the new anime while THAT FUCKING THING (Arguably a poor choice of words but yolo or something) stayed in.

If I have any problems with Casca's rape it's A. how it keeps getting exploited for cheap titillation in the ads for this game, which is BEYOND insulting and disrespectful and B. it's gone on WAY TOO FUCKING LONG! Yes it was a good way to show the trauma of the Eclipse, but now Casca has spent more time with the brain capacity of a two year old than she has of an emotionally healthy adult. Gut's motivation has come at the expense of Casca's character and she needs to get back to normal already for fuck's sake.

Well, they're off the boat now. Maybe the elf king dude will pull some bullshit. Though honestly, I don't think we'll ever see the end. It's been like 20 years now or something and we're only just at the end of the first act in terms of storytelling (i.e keeping Casca safe with the elves while Guts goes off to wreck shit).

Yeah, the new anime is...not good. Lost Children is actually one of my favourite arcs, but I could kinda see why they skipped over Rosaline, the demonic lolicon butterfly. I feel they somewhat sanitized this new adaptation. Oh, well, there's always the manga to read.

I liked the new anime (both movies and series). I'm happy we can finally move on from retelling the Golden Era over and over. The CG and rendering filter looked a bit weird at times but I'm so done with anime trying to minimize the amount of animation they actually do in the normal 2D style.

Yeah, a reskin with early PS2 graphics with character models that look like rubber dolls, hysterical overacting and 120(!) minutes of those horrendous CGI movies. I'll admit, similarly as Fisting the Northstar this is a really good IP to shove into the Dynasty Warriors template. I guess your enjoyment of the game runs parallel with how much of a fan you are of the particular license and how much you can stomach the gameplay. Koei has been making these shit games for decades now so obviously there's an audience.
