As someone new to escapistmagazine.com, I was wondering what it's many fans favorite features are. Personally, I was drawn to this site by Zero Punctuation and have been checking back ever since. I've been checking out the forums, participating in polls and such and reading some of the feature articles but I always find myself waiting impatiently for the new ZP. Can I get some other recommendations, as far as favorites and least favorites?

My apologies if similar threads exist. I didn't come across any in my short search.

Unskippable, Unforgotten Realms, De - Rez and Doomsday Arcade are all must sees.

Also, welcome to The Escapist! (sorry, I've dying to say that...)

in this thread most of the escapist will probably say it was zp that brought them here. This sort of threads been done before(alot) so i am fairly sure of that. But the other things like this forum, unskippable and newer features keep me entertained while yahtzee does his thing.

Certainly Zero Punctuation that brought me here but I'm quite enjoying Unskippable and Unforgotten Realms too. Love this forum too.

Unskippable has been slowly snowballing into greatness, the same goes to that laughable rendition of the Nintendo world, Let there be Brawl... I've watched alot of the shows but those 2 stick out for me the most, as a brit myself I can't find anything but Yahtzee criminally hilarious but there are those out there that beg to differ. Truly admirable site for combining so many elements. S'why I decided to stick around personally.

ZP, Unskippable and Stolen Pixels if you enjoy comics. Also, the weekly issues of the magazine are most of the time brilliant (sometimes I'm not interested in the subject).

ZP and UR are wins. Welcome dude. Just a tip, search for threads before making one, and try to avoid making religious or political ones. There are to many.

Also NO END OF THE WORLD threads. There are too many of those and just piss people off.

Zero Punctuation is how I discovered the Escapist as well. It's been a great experience ever since and hopefully will continue to be so. Also, I'm not biased because I became a contributor. At all. *cough*

As for recommendations, Unskippable and UR are pretty funny.

ZP is what keeps me coming back, but I am beginning to get into Unskippable. Also, some of the Off-Topic Forum Discussions are simply hilarious.

I'm a big fan of Unskippable, and Doomsday Arcade/There Will Be Brawl are alright for a laugh.

First off,

*ahem*
Welcome! Welcome to Escapistmagazine.com! You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining Internet Utopias. I thought so much of Escapistmagazine.com, that I elected to establish my administration, here, in the Forums, so thoughtfully provided by our Moderators. I am proud to call Escapistmagazine.com my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through to parts unknown, welcome, to Escapistmagazine.com. It's safer here.
(Note: Not made by me.)

On topic, I love Doomsday Arcade and Unforgotten Realms. Unskipable and There Will Be Brawl are pretty good too. And ZP will always have a special place in my heart for leading me to this wonderful site.

But by far, my favorite thing about the Escapist has to be the forums. I love this place.

The best of the Escapist is when we examine ourselves and depp-think the topics in the pages, where no new topics come up and existing ones stew in coolness for a while.
The worst is every Wednesday, here on the Escapist, wherein a rush of new users come on and splatter fresh gunk over everything before learning the ways we have here; simplicity, anegotism, intelligence.

I came here a ton for ZP and for some reason felt compelled to join this forum.
So yeah that's my story....not very interesting is it?

ZP brought me here, (As the third post suggested) and it was the only reason I wanted to be here.

Then I realized that trolls and fanboys were not in their masses here, so I defected from gamespot to the escapist, and here I am.

Also, welcome to the Escapist! (May I take your order?)

I discovered this place when i was linked the Guitar Hero 4 ZP video; subsequently I watched back through the multitude of past Punctuation videos and got hooked. I have made it a habit to check the forums each day for interesting topics to discuss, and the new articles each week usually have at least one worth reading, but wednesday mornings are still the best. Recently, however, I've been watching Unskippable and have to admit that it too has hooked me, as I've always been a Mystery Science Theater fan.

The best and the worst of the escapist, to my eyes, are Chris Slack's DeRez. I've never laughed so much at a web original as I have with their Resident Evil spoof. I've also never been so disappointed with their Mortal Kombat video.

Zero Punctuation is what drew me here, and I find it has the best overall quality. Hilarious and consistent with a cheerfully misanthropic host to delight and amaze.

The weekly game reviews are also interesting, giving a decent breakdown of both mainstream and indie games without succumbing to the numbered ratings system and the 8.8 bullcrap that accompanies it. The fact that these reviews are set out to be given by individual people rather than some number-crunching algorithm increases my likelihood of trusting the reviewer's opinion (the voice-over segments on the videos are really useful at this humanization process). I find that, if I can understand a reviewer as a person, then their opinion becomes much more likely to influence my decision. Hence, both good games and bad can be filtered much more effectively.

Hope you enjoy this free marketing research, you Themis Group Bigwigs.
