I don't understand why some work is considered to be so fantastic. I've yet to read a single Robert Frost poem I could tolerate. It's all so damn dull.51gunner said:I liked Animal Farm. I also flipped away from the boring-ass Robert Frost stuff we were reading in our texts, and read "The Most Dangerous Game". It wasn't part of the class per se, but it is a very good story. Instead, I got bitched out for not hearing about the road less travelled.
The Gift of the Magi was one of those stories for me. I even had a College English professor say that story sucks.-Zen- said:I don't understand why some work is considered to be so fantastic. I also agree that "The Most Dangerous Game" was a very good story. The funny thing is that all through the story, I envisioned the main character as a Solid Snake-ish kind of guy.
I thought Animal Farm and Most Dangerous Game were great, as well. I also flip away from what we're supposed to be reading to find something I actually like, instead of all this poetry crap we're going through now.51gunner said:I liked Animal Farm. No. Way. You got to read Ender's Game for school?! LuckyNoMoreSanity said:Ender's Game, I read it before, but it's still a great book. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is definitly over-rated though.
Oh god, I hated A Separate Peace so much, worst book (to me) that I read in High School, the worst being The Great Gatsby. Nothing happens...Srsly said:A Separate Peace. I had read it before in middle school. I still thought it was a great book to re-read an analyze. Metaphors are so much fun to pick apart as well as trying to come up with a in-depth character analysis.
Mmm. Brings back memories.
You got to read Ender's Game for school? I read it in one of the choose your own book times, but it was never assigned reading. What kind of school did you go to?NoMoreSanity said:Ender's Game, I read it before, but it's still a great book. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is definitly over-rated though.
