We've all seen (uh, I mean heard) our fair share of good voice acting in a game, but which games have really stuck out with a cast of exceptional voice actors? For me personally I think Brutal Legend takes the cake, and here's why.

First, here's some characters to jog your memory:

Eddie Rigs - likeness modeled after and voiced by Jack Black:

Ophelia - Voiced by Jenifer Hale:

Lita Halford - Likeness modeled from Lita Ford's appearance in the 80's and voiced by Kath Soucie:

The Guardian of Metal - Modeled after and voiced by Ozzy Osbourne:

The Kill Master - Modeled after and voiced by Lemmy Kilmister:

The Baron - Modeled after and voiced by Rob Halford:

Doviculus - Voiced by Tim Curry

Rima - Voiced by Lita Ford:

Basically what I'm getting at is we have characters that look the part, sound the part (probably because most of them are voiced by real metal legends) and all have a great script that makes them fit in perfectly into the game in which they're set in.

So what's your opinion?

Brutal Legend indeed.

I'm also quite fond of Kiefer Sutherland and Ed Harris in Treyarchs COD games.
Don't forget Gary Oldman.

OT: I would probably say Heavy Rain which is not a very popular opinion, but, really, I loved ALL of the voice acting, especially from the main characters.

If not... eh, Mass Effect? Uncharted?

I'd say Mass Effect, Dragon Age, KotOR (Bioware knows how to hire good voice actors) Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet (There's only one voice actor in that whole game, but it's Stephen Fry, so it just plain wins.) Fable 3, and Batman Arkham Asylum.

Hmm...The Disgaea games do a good job, as does Soul Nomad and the World Eaters.
Yuri Lowenthal does an awesome Gig, Barbara goodson makes Penn come to life, and Derek Stephen Prince is perfect for Christophe and Galahad, and Liam O'Brian makes Levin so lolworthy. Lobo's voice actor is great too.

Legacy of Kain. Just taking the top three, we've got Simon Templeman, Michael Bell and Tony Jay. I've yet to see a game with better voices.

Sacrifice comes close, though. Tony Jay, Jennifer Hale (not a fan, in general, but most people seem to like her), Tim Curry, Robert Paulsen (I think) and whoever Charnel's voice actor was.

Edit: And Portal. Because technically, every voice actress in that game was fantastic.

Very true.

Personally I loved the voice acting in GTA 3: San Andreas.

And yet, the voice acting for Legacy of Kain? Still better.

It's just that amazing. Well, the plot/dialogue/voices, anyway. As games... less so.

Bah, it's the Legacy of Kain series. You really can't top it. Michael Bell, Simon Templeman, Tony Jay. So much win.

LoK is such a sadly unappreciated series.

What about ODST? It was the cast of Firefly!
Cast of Firefly playing Starship Troopers. Also, the lead male isn't grizzled, which I was somewhat happy about. And that the team leader is a woman, and extremely stuffy and authoritative, which is a nice change from the ordinary ""Ï'm an action girl pay attention to me"".

Kreia in Kotor 2. I never skip her dialogue, even on subsequent playthroughs.

well Brutal Legend is sorta' an easy game to cast
most of them were just cast as them self

but I love me some good acting but I'm not familiar enough with enough voice actors to commend good casting choices

Mass Effect had wonderful acting
Don't know if that was the casting though
