What is the best cover of a song or melody you've heard? Let it be a classical arangement, video game music, a remade interpretation, anything.

My personal favorites are these two songs:

I've always liked the Hendrix version of 'All along the watchtower' more than the original.

The GH3 cover of Cliffs of Dover.

Just................awesome.
I wouldn't really call it a cover, it's just a straight remake since they couldn't license the master version. But yeah, it's brilliantly done, to the point where I honestly forget it's not the original.

Um, best covers then. Well, I was going to post a specific video, but I couldn't choose just one. So have their channel instead. Their version of that horrendous Beyonce song is really something special.

Search on Youtube 'Radio 1 Live Lounge covers'. Listen to half the stuff on there, and you have song cover gold.

However, here's two of my favourites:

Johnny Cash's Hurt, of course.

Bruce Springsteen's Viva Las Vegas is a good second, though.

I'd say the original version of Mad World by Tears for Fears, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZRib_aAQFQ , is inferiour to the Gary Jules cover, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4N3N1MlvVc4 , in pretty much every way (the tune and tempo for the cover actually go with the lyrics which is a huge improvement).

Rebekah del Rio's Spanish version of Roy Orbison's "Crying," featured in David Lynch's Mulholland Drive, is one of the most effective pieces of vocal music I've ever heard.

I won't link a video, because seeing it within the context of the movie makes it that much better.
