So, I'm sure this thread has been done before but it's something that's relevant to change in time.

What are your personal favourite free games? Old classics or completely new games. It doesn't have to be a dinky flash game or a facebook app, it could be anything.

Personally I've always loved N(+).

Ur-Quan Masters is a personal favorite, an open source version of Star Control 2. Ancient Domains of Mystery and Stone Soup are also quite good, they're Rogue-likes.

DWARF FORTRESS

You have no idea how many hours I've spent playing that game, meticulously planning my fortress every last detail while undertaking massive vanity projects that make the Khaz Modan, Khazad-dûm, and every other 'Khaz' look like muddy caves comparison. Designing the ultimate death-traps, elaborate systems of pulley, floodgate and pressure-plate designed to leave any unwanted intruder so dead they don't even know they're dead till they're dead, that's how dead they are!

My latest project was to created a massive multi-story Norman style above-ground keep, complete with turrets and outer wall defenses. It's nearly done now, and it's probably my favorite project to date!

Cyclo Maniacs, it is a browser game about bicycle racing that I am addicted to for some reason, I have gotten all the achievements in it at least 3 times. It's also very wacky because all the characters have a small bio written about them that I find very funny.

Here. You may want to look into a graphics pack unless you don't mind staring as ASCII characters all day.

As an aside, it seems like they're gearing up for the release of DF 2010.

Also this makes me wonder when Mechwarrior 4 will finally be released as freeware.

thanks, but where in gods name will I find a graphics pack? I can't even tell what anything is, let alone know what to do.

they should re-release it on ps3, 360, wii and stuff, they dont even need to update the graphics, if they could just add new areas and stuff, it would be a day 1 buy. also have offline multiplayer again, Universe would have been great if it had multiplayer...

and it would be even better with free online play.
