I have some extra money and i want a new game so i was wondering what game you thought was the best so far this year.

Don't just settle for a game from this year. There are plenty of great games from last year. But tell us, what do you like? I'd hate to suggest something like Mortal Kombat (a game from this year that I personally enjoyed) only to find that you have no interest.

Portal 2, Bulletstorm, L.A. Noire, inFAMOUS 2. All are spectacular.
If you want replayability, go for inFAMOUS 2. If you want a good story, L.A. Noire or Portal 2. For creativity, get Bulletstorm.

The best game I've gotten this year, well I didn't have to pay for it as I won it off here... Total War: Shogun 2.
It's amazing in every way. It's like Civ, but with less micromanagement and more EFFING AWESOME BATTLES!!!
But seriously, the game is amazing. And the AI is surprisingly intelligent.
I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who likes any kind of war game.

I commented in the wrong post of the OPs double post, so here we go.
I would have recommended Marvel vs. Capcom 3 if you were into fighting games, but now just wait for Ultimate.
Shadows of the Damned is a ton of fun, though a little short. Dead Space 2 has probably taken up more time for me this year than any other game (sans MvC3).
I say go with Dead Space 2 (or 1 if you haven't played it). Good story with absolutely terrific gameplay. Can't go wrong (unless you are easily spooked by things that go "boo").

Portal 2 is the best game of the year, in my book. Although the replay value is kind of ehhh.
Although, if you're looking for good games with not a ton of money, perhaps invest in the GOTY from a year or two ago? You can probably get multiple games then.
