So my girlfriend was finally vanquished by the power of my X360 and now wants to buy herself a controller so we can play some games together. Which left me delighted with a geeky grin on my face.

The thing is all the games I own are mostly single-player with no co-op (Assassin's Creed, GTA4..) or the general FPS (CoD4..), and she isnt very fond of shooting FPS's.

Now I want to ask you, oh Great Knowledgeable Peoples Of The Internets, which would be a good game me and her could have fun playing? Mind you she did played a lot of the early Tekken's so fighting games are maybe worth checking out.

But still, what are your thoughts? :)

I would have to give a shining reccomendation to Lego star wars, it's a great game to play with your girlfriend...I assume, and here's few reasons why...

1) it's fun
2) It's heavy on the Co-op

How 'bout some XBLA games to get her pumped up for some action! Seriously, nobody mentions the little games that are a good time waster. I don't know what games are on the XBL but they're cheap and fun and can get you pumped up for some CoD4, MGS4, or GTA4

Don't forget Lego Indiana Jones.

But yeah, Rock Band/Guitar Hero is probably the best choice for co-op play.

Slapsies, Conkers or Pogs.

How do you play Viva Pinata with a friend? Just have them sit there and watch while you play it?

I would say Streetfighter 2 or Super Bomberman.

Ratchet: Deadlocked on the Gladiator Dome arena map with only pistols, no powerups.
Or just Ratchet: Deadlocked.
And I remember when our Church had an old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stand-up arcade thingamabob (it's called a neo-geo isn't it?) and we would hot-wire it giving us infinite lives after the sermon. Those were the good old days.

If you want a game to sit down with and play with someone in the same house, get yourself a Nintendo 64. I'm sure you could find them cheap. Get yourself the original Mario Party, the original Smash Bros, the original Mario Kart, and Perfect Dark 64 and you'll be all set for years of fun.

Let's see... 360 co-op non-shooter titles that are fun...

You've got the obvious Guitar Hero/Rock Band (which are really fun). You've got the Lego games, which rule to an extent, but may be a bit too easy. There's Marvel Ultimate Alliance, which my wife and I did have some fun with (warning: not a ton of replay value here). I think the Simpsons Game had co-op, but I don't recall it being all that good (from what I've heard though, it was at least pretty funny).

Nothing else comes to mind.

I third the Star Wars Lego game and heard the Indy Lego game is just as fun. I mean, come on, who wouldn't want to Short Round? Does she by chance like sports games? There are a couple really good ones out there, even though I suggest staying away from the 2K8 NCAA bball. Very complicated to do the moves and stuff.

Also, if you have the extra cash, I get a kick out of Guitar Hero 2 player. Nothing quite like a cool girl rockin' out beside ya.

This sums up what almost everyone else has been saying too btw. :)

Any of the Lego games, as well as Rockband. My parents who are heavily "anti-gamer" play it with me and have a hoot. :)

How does she feel about 3rd person shooters? Gears of War is a 3rd person with good co-op. But other than that, I would have to say DOA or Guitar Hero. And there is Kameo.

You forgot one

3) it's pathetically easy (which seems to be a draw for girl gamers :S)

Action/Adventure style games with lots of puzzle solving and lots of combat, you can both work on solving the puzzles and trade off on the combat. It works really well for me and my girlfriend.
