Disgaea 2 Dark Hero Days. Technically it's a remake/port of a PS2 game, but they added a good many things to it to make it worthwhile. Not to mention the fact that, even without the added bonuses, it can easily last you a year to accomplish everything within it...

The game I played most on a handheld was probably Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town (sad as that fact is.)
Honorable mention to the Advance Wars series, to the sublime FF6 remake on the GBA, and to the Final Fantasy Tactics series (both the remake of the original on PSP that really needs to be ported to the DS and to the GBA/DS Advance games.)

monster hunter. simple lol or the mario bros adaptation for gameboy adv or pokemon silver which was prolly my favourite of the 3 gens of pokemon i played (blue, silver, saphire)
