So, inspired by the "Best Game Narrator" thread, I thought I'd go a little broader. Who is the best narrator you've heard, be it video game, movie, TV Show (other? Is there another category? I guess book on tape counts...).

There are far too many awesome voices for me to pick just one, but there are a couple of narrators from TV shows I've come to enjoy. I introduced myself to Pushing Daisies via Netflix, and the narration in it is an integral and hilarious part of that quirky show.

Also, Michael C. Hall's narration as the titular character of Dexter is equal parts Audio Erotica, witty, snarky humor, and utterly bone-chilling.

So, what's your favorite story-steering voice?

Morgan Freeman, that man could narrate the most boring, mind-numbing drivel and people would still shell out a ton of money to hear him speak

I liked Ron Howard in Arrested Development.

But I also think Samuel L. Jackson sounded good in the short bits he did for Inglourious Basterds. I wish he would narrate a documentary on lions, or tigers.

That man has a voice of silk.

2nd place goes to Ron Perlman for the Fallout games. And because he's Ron Perlman.

Hate to be unoriginal, but yeah, Morgan Freeman is the king of narration. It will be a sad day for movies with text scrolls the day he dies. Other than him, i like any narrator who has a unique voice such as Christopher walken (dont know if he has ever narrated, but hes still awesome!)

This is a tiger ************. Watch out or it will fucking eat you, *****.

I apologize for that.

I think Morgan Freeman is the best narrator. I don't know how but he manages to make anything interesting. He should quit acting and just start narrating his own life and sell it.

Lance Henriksen. He's done quite a bit of video games over the last decade - has a striking voice.

No need, we were all thinking the same thing.

Michael Ironside (AKA voice of Sam Fisher) that is all. Baddassest voice ever in the history of vocal chords.

1) Morgan Freeman
2) Keith David
3) Samuel L Jackson

Think that this would be a lot funnier if it was just best voice that could be used for narration because I would throw Liam Neson and Sean Connery into that list.

Stephen Fry, being the voice of the Hitchhikers Guide in the movie.

Ron Perlman, "War, war never changes" the amount of times I've heard that line and its still awsome.

I'll put forward Ringo Starr (former Beatle), for Thomas The Tank Engine. It was such a huge part of my early childhood, I just can't ignore it.

The facts then, are these. At this very moment in the town of Couer d'Couers, young Ned was nine years, twenty-seven weeks, six days and three minutes old. His dog, Digby was three years, two weeks, six days, five hours, and nine minutes old... and not a minute older.
One of my favourite shows.

Also, this. I'm just now watching Six Feet Under, and I can't help but to think of Dexter in every episode...

Morgan Freeman or Sir Patrick Stewart are about the only two that could pull of narrating anything.

Captain Picard even made Mars interesting when he narrated a special on it once upon a time.
