For if I finally get a part time job, I was thinking of saving for a VR headset. As I don't want VR to be a reason to get a PS4, I don't have a cell phone strong enough to use VR on it, and I'm not confident in my tech savviness to use something like OSVR, I'm deciding between the Occulus Rift and HTC Vive.

On one hand, the Vive has A Legend of Luca (a pretty cool looking Zelda-like roguelite based around swordsmanship). On the other hand, the Rift has Lucky's Tale (a platformer where the conceit is that your headset controls the third person camera). What do you doods think?

If you plan to do more than sit on your chair and have the space to mount the extra sensors of the Vive, go for that. Otherwise you'll probably be better off with the Oculus.

What about those new Occulus Touch controllers?

The Oculus *is* objectively better at what it does. More comfortable and better optics than the Vive. I also prefer the Oculus Touch controllers. The content, in general, is a lot more polished, too.
But the Oculus doesn't do room scale. Room scale is the big one, what makes VR really be VR.

Though if there are specific Oculus games that you want to play, the Vive *can* do it:

I've been playing Superhot on Vive recently, and it's great. Lucky's Tale works without a hitch.
