I'm watching "Waking Life" with the boy right now. Seen it before, really cool animation over filmed actors talking about consciousness. The boy typically loses interest in any movie that doesn't have losts of laugh lines every minute. He is glued to this film.

Same guy made 2 other favorite talkathons, Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Good stuff.

I thought My Dinner with Andre was deadly. Maybe I was too young for it.

Your favorite talky movie?

My favourite movies with a lot of dialogue are
The Godfather 1 & 2
Anything by Tarantino
Dr.Strangelove
Watchmen

Some of those don't have a lot of talking, but they're all I could think of at this moment.

oh erm "Lost in Translation" probably? Nothing really happens, but the feelings of isolation are expressed very well and Bill Murray is on excellent form.

Inglorious Basterds. I'm a subtitle reader anyway, so I was totally ready for that movie. Plus it was entertaining and funny. An overall good movie.

Does Pulp Fiction count? "Royale with Cheese!"
"Oh man! I just shot Marvin in the face!"

I thought you mean something like "Singing in the Rain", from the era of movies when they just learned how to incorporate sounds, hence leading the new ones to be called "Talkies".

Now, I love dialoge. My favourites are Der Untergang (Downfall), anything Tarantino minus Death Proof, Goodfellas, The Godfather, Lord of War, and Leon the Professional. Actually, this encompasses a lot of my favourite movies, too...

I don't think you can count anything from Tarantino as a "talky". There's usually enough action and violence thrown in, and the dialogue is so well written you don't even realize how much talking is happening.

Anyway, mine is 12 Angry Men [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0050083/], hands down

1957's 12 angry men. The movie is basically 12 men in jury duty discussing about the veredict, it is great.

Yep. This is probably my favorite talky movie.

I was surprised at how riveted I was by a movie that takes place pretty much in one room.

As for a Movie that's entirely talking, and nothing else, this film works extraordinarily well. And I usually don't really like old films either so it's pretty damn good!

Clerks.

It probably gets thrown around a lot from lots of people, but Smith is just like Tarantino in many cases: Swear words are tossed around quite a bit, Quirky characters you get involved with, plus the Black and White, whether it be for Budget Reasons or otherwise, is well used.

Before Kevin Smith became overblown (not physically, but in his style of filming) he did Clerks. and it was awesome. It is still a very good movie to watch, very funny, clever and it holds up pretty well.

The 400 Blows, and The Girlfriend Experience, and The Royal Tenenbaums. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is pretty good too. Being John Malkovich is also.

It's hardly a talky movie though. There is very little dialogue, most of the movie is expressed through the scenery and the non verbal interactions of Bob and Charlotte.

As for me, I'd have to A Scanner Darkly. I know the movie got a lot of flack, but I really enjoyed the characters in it.

Not Pulp Fiction or G-d Fathers for that matter. As BlindMessiah points out, to really quallify, not much by way of action or suspense: just some rapid fire dialogue. A Scanner Darkly has a pretty decent amount. I'm one of the few that love that movie. I thought it was coming to Netflix streaming 3/9/2010? Not yet.
