Well, my suggestion would be:

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn! Golden Sun: Dark Dawn!!! :D

Because it's really awesome.

Strange Journey, a game flying so low under the radar that it could club baby seals from the window.Think Pokemon except with a much darker twist and you collect demons and deites instead of Pokemon.Easily one of the DS's best RPGs

Golden Sun is pretty underrated, if you ask me.
And it might not be in your realm of gaming, but I'd recommend giving Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney a shot.
It is a truly fantastic series.

I can never find anyone who knows about this game. great milestone in experimental gaming. Plays a lot like a sci-fi GTA where you hijack animals instead of cars.
Edit: oh my bad, DS.... ummmm...
I suppose The World Ends With You might count.

Electroplankton is amazing and you can never convince me otherwise.
As a Music Technology student who loves cool music related bullshit, I wish there were more games like Electroplankton.

If you're looking for under the radar try Chronos Twins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronos_Twins)
It's a platform game Megaman style but with heavy puzzle elements. Best of all it will make your mind melt into a bloody pulp thanks to the (only?) brilliant use of two screens.
Sadly the production value is low with plenty of engrish but the controls feel spot on and the levels and enemies are well designed IMO which is pretty much all that counts.
Play it!

Super Robot Taisen:OG Saga: Endless Frontier

Go get it, now!! It combines both action and RPG, its story is both funny and awesome at the same time, its actually a pretty deep RPG, the combat is amazing and customizable, and the default version of the game comes with a music CD if you happen to really like the game. Seriously, go get it!!!

What didn't you like about Disgaea? that would help me give you a better answer.

it was too hard for me. I liked ff tactics for the ds but disgaea was just too much of a beat down.

Space Station: Silicon Valley wasn't bad, didn't play too much, though.

As for under-the-radar DS games. Wellll, I'd say Strange Journey and TWEWY. Far and away the best two in my opinion.

Ok gonna be upfront then:This game doesn't shit around,it can be diffcult at times but as long as you keep at it,try different fusions and use decent strategies you should be fine. It also plays nothing like Tactics or Disgaea in case we had some miscommunication somewhere.
