Often times, I feel like making a Youtube account and deciding to create a bunch videos related to my favorite games. They could just be gameplay montages or help/how-to videos, and I was wondering if any of you have experience with this kind of stuff (for the record, I have NO experience with this whatsoever). I wouldn't mind having to pay for it, but if can get something of fairly good quality for free, I'll take it.

Um, well what games?
If you're talking about on console, you'll be wanting a Hauppage HDPVR.
I hear Elgato capture devices are very good too.
(My spelling might be wrong haha but google will help:])

Don't get a Dazzle.

If you're gonna be recording stuff on PC...ngh I dunno. I mean Fraps is the obvious recommendation but people nowadays seem to use something else more often...and I can;t for the life of me remember what it is, sorry D:.

What is it you're going to record? It matters if it's on consoles or PC.

I've heard from people you should get an HDPVR if you want to go professionally but for casual, budget stuff I recommend a Roxio Game Cap, it can be used for Xbox 360 and PS3.

I can't relate to PC recording the only thing I know you can use is shitty fraps.

Fraps isn't shitty...?

In terms of recording games on PC fraps probably is the best available in terms of quality. However if you plan on recording a game at 60 fps it will probably tank your framerate unless you have a good computer.

I suppose that would be a big negative to using Fraps. You kind of need a decent computer or try recording in 30 fps.

Also, the full version of fraps isn't free.
