toughie....Darth Vader is a strong contender.

Evil-Picard-Clone (forgot his name) from Start Trek Nemesis was kind of cool, mind you it's been a while since I saw that movie so I'm running on fuzzy memories here.

Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame. Pious, self-righteous obsessive old man...with an awesome hat.

Also the gang of villains, including the Weasels, from Who Framed Roger Rabbit (can't remember names there either)

The velocerapters from Jurassic Park receive my vote, regardless if they even count in this thread or not.

The Xenomorphs, and to an extent, the Predator. Although with regards to the Predator it is debatable if they really are "good" or "evil".

I liked Pinhead from Hellraiser.
He could be bargained with, he simply is just sadistic and he knows it :D

Well, this sucks - only film? I don't think Nineteen Eighty-Four was ever made into a movie...

Iago - Othello
So many people have portrayed him in various ways. I myself have done so, instead choosing the idea that he has found to himself that chaos and chance are the only things in the world worth observing. He chooses Othello and his wife as targets not because of some motive, but because they were two perfect choices of target. They're high, mighty, and the destrucion of what is otherwise 'True Love' is a most precious concept. Inevitably it falls apart due to circumstances outside of his control (Oh look, chaos and chance. I see a pattern here.) and none can ever know his true motives.

The Joker, imo, stole himself from that sort of abstraction, and from the Comedian of Watchmen fame. He has become psychopathic as he begins to view the world as it being simply a joke. I'm not gonna keep ranting now, good day to you.

I can't help but wonder if the Dark Knight Joker would have gotten as many raves if Heath Ledger hadn't managed to kick the bucket pre-release. That seems to have made him a semi-god, the same way Kurt Cobain was canonized (Nirvana was going downhill VERY swiftly at the time, but somehow got christened the best and most influential group of all time because of that little stunt). Or perhaps it's just the role that captures the imagination - I remember back in '89 when Jack Nicholson's Joker was hailed as the greatest villain, nay, even the best acting performance ever. Today, it looks more than a little cheesy. So I'm not going to pick either of those.:p

Instead, I'm gonna second Sable Gear and pick Frollo, mainly because he's a DISNEY VILLAIN who is all about repressed lust, for crying out loud. I still don't understand how they got away with that one...
Plus, he's voiced by the late great Tony Jay, who did quite a few video games as well. Don't want to step TOO far from gaming discussion on this board...:)

Morgan Freeman in March of the Penguins. He was just sitting there mocking them. What a great villain.

Sloan from Wanted and the Joker from Dark Knight. The first is like Palpatine and the second is just crazy
Having watched that film twice in 2 nights, I fail to see the similarities between Sloan and Palpatine? o_O

Sloan just turns out to be a pussy :)
