"Dear Bethesda Forum User,

We have identified a potential breach of our forum user database that occurred Friday morning, Aug 12. We have reset your forum password as a precaution, in the event that any encrypted forum user passwords were compromised.

When you next try to login to the forums, your old password will not work. Click the "I've forgotten my password link" underneath the login boxes, and follow the steps to setup a new password for your account.

We recommend you do not use your old password or a password you have used for other sites. Further, if your old forum password was used for any other online purposes, we recommend changing the password on those accounts as well."

Has anyone else received this message from Bethesda?

It's pretty scary how many breaches there have been this year on the game industry. I wonder what motivation there was for this to happen.

Oi. This can't be good, actually, I hope they release a statement once they get this sorted out, I wonder what happened? *thoughtful stroke of imaginary beard*

The Potential, it's everywhere!

I'm no hacker myself, but would getting "Behind the Scenes" in the forum allow them access to staff-only bits, with useful admin passwords and so forth?
Then they could try those passwords on the Bethesda servers (in case some sloppy member of staff uses the same Password for the forums and work) and *Blam* leaked Skyrim stuff? Or am I wildly out?

I never thought of it like that, but it might be possible? Guess time will tell!

I swear to GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY... if hackers eff with me getting my Skyrim fix, I will systematically find them and nail their respective sex organs to billboards.

This concerns me.
