I've been using both Malware-Bytes and Microsoft Security Essentials for my antivirus protection on my computers for quite a while now and this combination has served me well for the last couple of years. I can't count the number of viruses I've gotten rid of anymore, they worked that well together while scanning simultaneously, especially considering how they're both free programs. However, currently both programs seem to merely be going through the motions and not coming up with any results. This doesn't add up because I'm not bashful about visiting certain other websites that should be swamped with viruses, malware, etc.

So, I figure it's time to try out a different software combination. I would prefer other free programs as once upon a time I used Norton (NEVER AGAIN!) and that thing was about the BIGGEST RIPOFF anyone could possibly conceive. The other Antivirus companies in the mainstream don't seam to be much better. Way too overpriced for what they offer. I am willing to admit that I may be a little spoiled due to that combination, so as long as a program isn't too expensive and enough people vouch that it's a good product then I'll be willing to give it a shot.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I always used Avast, until I took my laptop in to get a checkup and the people decided to uninstall it and put on Microsoft Security Essentials. Still haven't removed that, although I think Avast was probably better.

I remember hearing good things about Avira, too, but I don't remember if I ever actually tired it out. Both Avast and Avira are free, by the way.
