Simply post what your biggest gaming letdown. Then post what was wrong with it and what could have made it better.

My letdown that I always use is Empire Earth III.

It added the conquer the world gameplay that Rise of Nations had. That's just what I thought the original 2 could have used. But, it reduced the number of nations from 15+ to 3. Then it did the added kill of reducing ages from 15 to 5. I agree that some epochs could have been eliminated or merged but, 5? Then finally, the game was a joke, it was all a cartoon and every unit made a corny joke when it was clicked on. The biggest improvement to the game would have to be the garrisoning of units on walls. That's something I've always wanted.

Then more or less:
Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties.
I wasn't too peeved at this one, it did add some wonderful features such as sea treasures, and some excellent maps. But it lacked the feel of the original and expansion (The War Chiefs). If they would have decided to add Europe and African maps then I'd probably have approved of it. But, that would be too much work on the devs. Perhaps if there was a big enough fan-base for another expansion. Looks like they've decided to drop AoE and stick to Halo Wars now. :( I was so excited for the prospect of AoE 4. At least there's still Total War <3 I can't wait to see how the next one of those turns out!

I was really let down by Fable 2, for the fact we where promised all this amazing stuff and we got a bland rpg with a bland story.

Dark Sector. I bought that crap game day one... ugh. From that day on, I decided to do my research and make sure not to buy a bad game. Never again!

Searchbar approved? Uh...

My biggest letdown has been said before and it will be said again: Spore. It was built up so much and we weren't delivered what we were promised. It was lacking in nearly every area and just got to the point where it wasn't fun.

Ya, either Spore or Fable. I wanted more choices in these things.

What else do you expect from a game hyped by Peter Moleneux?

Ah, I see.

Well now you know.

Trust me, under the overhyped game, is a pretty fun experience. Keep this in mind for Fable 3.

Masters of Orion 3 whats the point of playing a game when you just hit end turn every couple seconds before you know you have a civilization built.

Masters of Orion 3.

I don't think there is a bigger let down in existence, except maybe star control 3, which was effectively de-canonized.

Lunar:Dragon Song......

A horrible RPG with good Art and bland story.

What was so bad you say?
well for one thing...you had to choose between getting EXP or items.
Oh and you couldent select your target in battle.

The Conduit.

Back when I still had my Wii, I was beginning to get frustrated with the lack of exclusive wii titles worth owning. I'm not a SSB fan(boy) though I've owned The original and Melee, I just found the wii one to be a particle induced seizure with way too many one hit ko's.
Twilight Princess and Resident Evil 4 were both on Gamecube and were y favourite games to play on the wii, so they were hardly console exclusive. That led to pretty much Metroid and Mario Galaxy being the only reasons left for me to own the system, but two games is hardly a reason to own a system in my opinion.
Also keep in mind I can only afford one console.

When the Conduit was announced, I was really excited. I had been harping for quite some time about the wii's motion control's being shoehorned into every game improperly, particularly FPS'.
Everything I was reading about the conduit seemed to indicate it was extremely customizable and I was beginning to get excited for an FPS multiplayer experience on the wii worth owning.
It didn't fail in the control regard. It did in the multiplayer regard.
It had no local multiplayer, which made me so mad. I bought it simply assuming it would have it when it said "multiplayer" on the back. I invited 3 of my buddies over, and instead we soon discovered that apparently SEGA thinks that the wii is best used in multiplayer online, not with people over (which I thought was the point of the damn system in the first place).
We spent the remainder of the evening boxing up the wii and all my games and trading it for a new shiny XBOX and some cash.
The Conduit was the nail in the coffin for me and the wii. I don't regret not owning it anymore as I have gotten much more use out of the XBOX, and whenever people want to have a party and wii bowl I've got friends who just bring their console over.

Sure the Conduit had other problems other than local multiplayer being missing. It was a pretty generic shooter with nothing really new to add to the genre. But so are most FPS'. I could've forgiven it for being mediocre and doing local multiplayer and FPS controls well on the wii. It may have paved the way for better FPS' on the wii in the future. Instead it pretty much killed my hope for the system.

So you win Conduit for biggest let down of a game ever in my books. You not only were a letdown as a game, but you became the catalyst to me selling my wii.

Bioshock. Who would guess that a game with such great reviews would be a piece shit. It wasn't the worst game I ever played, but it's in the top ten. And I always hear people complain that Halo is overrated.
