Described as a "kung-fu fable" by developer Experiment 101, Biomutant allows you to customise your character with different robotic attachments, mutations and weapons, ranging from samurai swords to full-blown assault rifles. Experimentation is key, with each new bit of loot aiming to enhance the gameplay experience. Character customisation has been compared to the likes of an MMO, offering a staggering number of player options.
Played from a third-person perspective, combat will be a mixture of martial arts, shooting and old-school melee attacks. All of these will be determined by your mutations, giving combat plenty of nuance. Weapons can also be crafted in a similar manner to fit the situation in which you find yourself.
Exploration is a big component of Biomutant, and the way you can travel across the world is surprisingly varied. The land before us can be traversed on foot, mech, air balloon, jet skis and even a UFO. Hopefully, they all handle well and allow for a bit of customisation.
There will be three individual worlds to explore, including an underworld and even a miniature solar system that we hope is filled with different characters and side quests to conquer.
