alright, so recently i watched the bioshock infinte trailer and honestly i am kinda weirded out by the fact that the trailer takes place in the clouds rather than under water. Some of the important questions would definitely have to be

1. do you play as a big daddy? or something that is more powerful than a human?
2.what will this game do to propel the story of rapture forward?
3. this game is being announced rather early and i am convinced that the story will not be as good as it could be if they give it more time.
4.was 2k high when they made this trailer ?!
what are your thoughts?

You play as a detective sent to the flying city of Columbia, and your searching for a girl there. It takes place 40 years before Rapture I think... Anyways, Im pretty excited for it.

1. You play as some agent named Booker.
2. It happens 40 years before Rapture. Lots of speculation.
3. That's not a question.
4. High as cloud! *Zing*

From what I've heard so far:

1. No, and possibly
2. It won't. Thematically it will be similar, but they aren't doing anything with the Rapture storyline.
3. An announcement and cinematic are nothing, it isn't going to be released until late 2011-2012
4. Probably not*

*[sub][sub]That means yes, yes they were[/sub][/sub]

1. No, you play as a human called Booker DeWitt (I think) who's a detective and has been sent to Columbia to rescue the girl you saw at the end of the trailer. He even has a voice and character.
2. It won't. It's set over 30 years before Rapture is even build. There's plenty of evidence to say this isn't even the same universe, such as "magical" powers decades before plasmids were invented and the fact that no one mentioned a flying city.
3. It isn't being released until 2012, and they've been working on this in secret for 3 years already.
4. I was when I watched it.

I like the direction they're talking with this, but it shouldn't be called Bioshock. It looks like Infinite is to Bioshock what Bioshock is to System Shock. It's a spiritual sequel to a spiritual sequel.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who was bored of Rapture by the second one, the sense of wonder was gone. Hopefully a new world and city will bring it back. A different setting is the minimum I expect from most sequels.

1) I doubt it... The big daddy-like thing had a disembodied brain or something in its headpiece. Plus, there was some drama between the man and the woman that tried to save him. I'm guessing the game might have some kind of lover's survival story.

2) I'd say 2K is done with Rapture, because that place was definately not related to Rapture. American Flags where everywhere. (They looked like 46 stars, used during 1908 and 1912) The Chicago snowglobe read "1893 World's Fair." There was a billboard that said "Burden not Columbus with your chaff." I'm thinking this sky city existed BEFORE Rapture.

Personally, I think Rapture's story is just about tapped out anyways. Might as well take it to the sky if they're sticking with the Steampunk theme, like that movie The Rocketeer.

Also, with that guy seemingly giving a speech behind the American Flag, perhaps the villian will be an extreme socialist. They've covered Depostism with Ryan and Communism with Lamb.

I think I'm going to like it, though, as long 2K is sticking with the genetic/steampunk theme. I like skies over oceans myself.

is it possible that this might be the place Andrew Ryan has grown up in because the timeline woulde be right and t woulde explain maybe why he was so anti-socialist because it was forced upon him as a child? Just a suggestion.

1. You play as an FBI (I think it was the FBI) agent called Booker DeWitt. This time they've decided to do a more fleshed-out character unlike Jack from the original. Not sure if he'll be voiced or not.
2. Nothing, most likely. It keeps the name BioShock because of the thematic similarities (and the BioShock-y feel), not because it has any overall relation to Rapture (that we yet know of).
3. Announced early? It doesn't come out until 2012 at the earliest. This is being made by Ken Levine, not the BioShock 2 guys (2K Marin). Levine did the original and it is likely that work on this started whilst Bio2 was being released.
4. Quite possibly - it's amazing.

1. As said, you play as former Pinkerton detective Booker DeWitt. He's sort of you're classic gumshoe character. He's going to have a voice and hopeful a sarcastic and pissed off demeanor.
2. Due to complaints of Rapture feeling overused, Ken Levine (the creative director) decided that it was best to do a "re-imagining" of the series. It is odd that he is forced to do a re-imagining only three years after the original game came out, but that's what bitchy fans do. I'd love to see a prequel in Rapture, maybe as a Splicer in the Civil War, but, as said, people are done with Rapture.
3. Levine is a master with story. Just because it is announced early does not mean the story is set in place yet. The creative team could make a number of changes even before this year is up.
4. No. They are following a tradition in the Bioshock series. Almost all of their trailers involve a first person fight scene. See these links:

Personally, I am a huge fan of Levine and the Bioshock series, as you might see from reading my posts, and I am sure the game will be great with Levine at the helm. Just don't have your expectations TOO high or you will be sure to be disappointed.
