Of course, we all recall the countless times Atlas gave us direction by filling Jack's head with all the "Would you kindly" bullshit, but what else has stuck in your head?

I see Bioshock like I see Dune; A whole new world, developed with pure originality. A whole new spectrum of political and religious beliefs, an emmersive environment with much to offer.

Rapture is just a work of art, and the inhabitants prove themselves mentally unstable, yet utterly alluring to any gamer.

So, my question to you is, What are some words these characters said (or had written, or otherwise) that make you feel like Rapture is a real part of the world.

My favorite quote, not sure weather it was spoken or written (and I may be paraphrasing, or I may just remember the gist of it) has to be :

"It wasn't impossible to build Rapture under the sea, it was impossible to build Rapture anywhere else."

I love BioShock, and i see it with the same eyes as you, a work of art. I am a huge fan of Art Deco, which is what sucked me into that game. but unfortunately I have terrible memory. i can't think of any quotes. but on a side note, i like that you made mention of Dune (The Original). that is by far my favorite Sci-Fi flick.

"Would you Kindly?" Of course, but "A Man Chooses, a Slave Obeys" at a very close second.

Anything Sander Cohen said. That guy = win.

I think, for me, it was the great job they did on the audio diaries that made the world so real to me. It was amazing to collect these little snippets of people's lives that, as you go alone, begin to piece together what happened to Rapture. Amazing way of telling a story.

I hope they find a way to work that system of storytelling into the second one.

Right before you strike the killing blow on Andrew Ryan he says "A man chooses... A SLAVE OBEYS!" in a sort of choked voice because you just beat him almost to death with a golf club.

Andrew Ryans introductory sequence in the submarine when you're descending into Rapture. That was killer

@ stinkychops:

I know he dies, but right before the last smash to the head he chokes out the phrase one more time, and the way he said it that time stuck with me.

I like the final tape by Ryan that you can find.

"Could I have made mistakes? One does not build cities if one is guided by doubt. But can one govern in absolute certainty? I know that my beliefs have elevated me, just as I know that the things I have rejected would have destroyed me. But the city... it is collapsing before my... have I become so convinced by my own beliefs that I have stopped seeing the truth? Perhaps. But Atlas is out there, and he aims to destroy me, and destroy my city. To question is to surrender. I will not question."

I love this speech so much, especially within the context of the game. Through the whole game you see every character as an extremest, and then you get this one point where you see someone actually reconsidering what they are doing. The tragedy is the end, where he reaffirms his goals and chooses not to reconsider.

Fontaine over his manipulation of the public.

'guys who thought they knew it all, gals who thought they'd seen it all... heh. give me a smart mob over a dumb one any day...'

alright my lungs hurt now, that was hilarious.
"A Man Chooses, a Slave Obeys" this is the most interesting phrase and the one that really applies to the real world.

The ice guy that Cohen sends you to kill, can't remember the full quote, but it goes something like this:

"That bastard Cohen, he left is here to freeze (heavy emphasis on freeze)........the iceman cometh Sander baby, the iceman fucking cometh!"

Probably the first phrase you see as you leave the plane crash. 'No gods or kings, only man.' That scene was very impressive.
