BioShock Wedding Unites Rapturous Couple

Somewhere, beyond the sea, a man and a woman got married with the blessing of a Big Daddy.

Geek-themed weddings have forced attendees to cosplay BioShock [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/102581-Superhero-Wedding-Forces-Guests-to-Cosplay]-themed wedding of Anna and Jon. The Canadian couple tied the knot last year under the guard of a Big Daddy's giant drill.

The wedding featured imagery from the game on its cupcakes, program, and even the groom's cufflinks. The cupcakes were decorated with the into the woods [http://www.flickr.com/photos/51859222@N02/4816022544/].

The those cufflinks [http://www.flickr.com/photos/51859222@N02/4816087738/], which are made of a Big Daddy helmet and look custom made.

While the event wasn't totally encompassed by BioShock, it was nice how the game's characters and themes ware snuck into various important areas. It would have been cooler if the bride and groom dressed up like a Big Daddy and Big Sister (a Little Sister would be too creepy) and were married by Andrew Ryan who then went on to (*SPOILER ALERT*) get bashed in the head with a golf club, but what Anna and Jon put together was pretty cool too.

The theme was kinda subtle and sedate relative to other such celebrations we've heard about other the ages. This one almost seems...classy. How very strange.

As a big fan of Bioshock, the idea of Bioshock wedding sounds fun... but these people seem to have got the wrong impression to say the least about the relationship between a Big Daddy and a Little Sister, which are meant to be father & daughter, not husband & wife which the couple seem to be implying by putting a model of them on top of the cake.

I suppose it's harmless really but just seems kind-of odd to me. I guess it's their choice though.

I'm a traditionalist when its comes to weddings, but even I have to admit this is awe inspiring.

No, not awesome. Have to use the two word version for this one.

This is awesome. Im suprised game themed weddings are becoming more and more popular. Even one of my tutors was on about getting there wedding themed along the line of Fable.

If Irrational Games somehow fit a reference to this in their upcoming game, that would be so adorable.

That's awful. Seriously.

In 30 years they are going to have to explain to their children and grandkids why the wedding photos and memorabilia look so stupid.

"It was based on a video game of the time. Pretty obscure now"

I hate this kind of rubbish.
Way to be a Buzz Killington. It's no more stupid than a Shrek or Nazi wedding [http://www.weddingabc.net/blog/15-insane-weddings-that-have-ever-taken-place].

Eh, I guess you gotta stretch Bioshock as hard as you can to get it to fit into a wedding motif. I mean, who else would you have on the cake? Andrew Ryan and Ayn Rand?

(Looks over various wedding pictures of the past. Sees bridesmaids in assorted hideous combinations of colors no sane human would wear without coercion. Sees a best man wearing day-glo green and obviously hating it.)

Got news for you: A wedding doesn't need a theme to look stupid.

Hm, some interesting ideas. I did like the cufflinks, heh.

Although I must admit that it still creeps me out a bit. I get the same feeling with anything that is over-the-top fandom like this, it just seems... off.

If I ever get married, it will be a very small ceremony with no fuss(although I suspect my bride and family might have other ideas).

But something like this would be fun.

I think this would only work if the vicar said "Would you kindly place the ring."

For anybody who has played the game and reads subtext into that sentence, it was intentional.
