Star Wars the Old Republic is going to revolutionize the way we look at MMOs, just like Bioware has revolutionized the RPG genre with every new game they release. Frankly, WOW is getting rather boring, and I am looking forward to finally retiring my Paladin, to finally be able to play as a Jedi Knight in a Star Wars online game that doesn't suck.
I doubt that, but maybe, we'll see.
And yes, wow is incredibly boring at the moment, then again I've been playing since the beginning so that's probably why. The expansion should be good for a few months at least though.

I think if any developer were going to give Blizzard a run for it's money it would be BioWare. They're kind of the kings of RPG at the moment. And they've been doing it successfully for a long time now. I'm kinda surprised they haven't already. I'd certainly play it.
Umm, The Old Republic?
Oh derp, Fair enough I guess. I guess I should have been more clear. I was mostly referring to a fantasy MMO. I find Star Wars MMO's to be pretty stale, beating a dead horse etc.
Another fantasy MMO to add to the pile? Star Wars is a huge franchise with a hefty fan base. MMO's are extremely popular within the pc community. Bioware are renowned for making RPG's. I think you can do the math here, Bioware should have made Warhammer instead of letting an amateur company like Mythic vomit up a half arsed WoW clone.
These huge MMO's are a pretty new introduction to main-stream gaming and there is still a lot of exploration to be had, another fantasy game straped to a high rolling intellectual property is the last thing Bioware are gunna want to put 5 years and a sack load of cash into. Not to say Star Wars is a bad choice but I think it will be the same deal as every other MMO, you won't know if it's any good until you play it for a few months.
My advice is not to give into the hype, I made that mistake with Warhammer Online, they'll tell you about all the fancy whistles and bells that you think you want and then we soak it up like we are spongians from the planet gullabus.
Hype of what game exactly? I don't really have any desire to play an MMO coming out soon, I still keep an ear to the ground in case something good comes along.
I don't think there's anything wrong with using fantasy. If something isn't broken, don't bother trying to fix it, imo. I think games could start inventing new races and stories other then dwarves and elves etc. But the whole Swords, Steel and Magic thing is proven to work and is still a ton of fun.
