My birthday is coming up and I basically have no idea as to what to ask for, and telling my parents to use their imaginations is usually an extremely poor choice. The obvious choice for a gift is video games. So does anyone have any suggestions of games that have come out recently. I am planning on asking for Starcraft 2, and I already own Portal 2. Any ideas?

Depends on what kind of genres you like. Out of interest when is your bday? Mines the 7th May :D

EDIT: My advice is just ask for money then wait till the end of June and raid the Steam sales. 70% off is always a good thing, I mean why have one game when you can buy a pack? ... or 3 packs?. If you're not a PC gamer then ..... ask them to preorder gears 3, or rage about the PSN network going down so you get an xbox ... THEN ask them to preorder gears 3 ^_^. If you're a Wii/DS gamer then I'm afraid I can't help

Please elaborate: What consoles do you have, if any? What kinds of games do you like?

I came in here expecting a discussion about Twister and Pin the Tail on the Donkey. I am disappointed.

OT: As @onewheeled999 pointed out, more information is needed for us to give you any useful suggestions.

Just ask for money and buy your own games. It's better then asking someone else to buy games for you that don't know your tastes and the games you like.

Also money could also buy something else, like clothes or food, or movie tickets, which is better then a gift certificate, or games as it's more versatile and used for more things.

Basically money is the best damn birthday gift.

Pin the tail on the donkey is always a hit, so is the pinata.
Oh...

OT: Money, since you can choose what you want.

Or, ask for a game from last year that you didn't manage to pick up, which is what I'd probably do.
