Black Bars

I got an HDTV a while ago and there have always been black bars around all four sides of the screen. I figured this was because I was using a non-HD device (PS2). But I got a PS3 yesterday and the bars are still there. Anyone have any ideas on how to make that go away?

Possibly need to change the screen resolution? Bring up the menu system and look around there for it.

Assuming you changed the output for the PS3, sometimes HD televisions have a screen setting where you can change it to 4:3, wide, wide zoom etc.

yeo that's pretty much it, it probably defaulted to that setting when it detected the PS2, but didn't do it again afterward.

just bring up menu: display: resolution and you should be able to cycle through several settings =]

I had this problem at one point too, it was a combination of changing tvs with different settings on the system and the tv settings itself
