Black Mirror is a satirical drama about modern technology, television and other cultural aspects, written by Charlie Brooker and shown on Channel 4 (in the UK) for the past three weeks. I believe it represents the current technological culture and zeitgeist in an extremely funny, insightful and haunting way. It reminds me of Philip K Dick's stories, not just representing the obvious (and rather tedious) utopian or dystopian predictions of future technology, but being able to envision the more likely and complex sociological and psychological outcomes of advanced technologies that mirror the current attitudes towards or created by social networks, gaming, reality television, the internet, etc, etc.

Anyway, what do you think?

I loved each episode, I really did. I thought 15 Million Merits was the best episode.

I dunno about funny, it wasn't really meant to be funny. Intelligent yes, deep and meaningful yeah. Emotional, the last two sure as hell. Bestiality...yeah that was cool!

The Prime Minister was interesting, I loved the focus on YouTube and Twitter and how the internet gives any lack of privacy but I found the drama itself pretty average and the story having only one real interesting moment and that's the part where he...er...makes love to a pig. (written by Charlie Brooker, tv critic and comedian known for his columns in The Guardian and his latest show How TV Ruined Your Life)

15 Million Mertis was amazing, I already stated it was my favourite. I loved the solitude and the atmosphere of the place, it was incredible and the raw emotion at the end was mind-blowing. It was an upsetting and unsettling view into the future and hey, it's possible we could live in a future pretty similar. (written by Charlie Brooker and his wife Kanak "Konnie" Huq, tv presenter known for Blue Peter and The Xtra Factor)

An Entire History of You was brilliant, a terrifying insight into how man can obsess and drive themselves crazy. It was a brilliant idea followed through really well with great acting and incredible dialogue but it wasn't as clever. (written by Jesse Armstrong, known for co-writing Peep Show, Four Lions and The Thick of It)

All in all it was an amazing three-part series and I can't wait for more from Brooker, yeah he's one of my heroes.
