As most of you are aware there has been a lot of problems concerning Xbox Live banning because players in BO decide to put the swastika as there emblem. Although this is a big problem as when many people see the emblem they understand the connection with history and the terrible atrosoties committed. This seems to be the biggest problem right now although I have seen other problems with the emblems. Today i jumped into a lobby and noticed that about 4 people all had emblems depicting the KKK white hood with the initials on the front. One even had a "No N*****" on it.

My question is do the people of the escapist think that Treyarch has gone a bit to far with the ability to customize the player card and should have had more of a bungie approach were players can only select from predetermined emblems and backgrounds?

P.S. Before any bigots try to bring the argument that "It was used before the Nazi's" please realize two things:

1. The color scheme that has most been seen in these emblems resembles that of the Nazi flag (i.e. red background encasing a white circle with the swastika in the middle.

2.Most of the symbols used for Buddhist or Hindu were made to spin right, a sort of universal view of good, and the light. When the Nazi party took the symbol the made it spin to the left, usually associated with evil, and the dark.

On a side note the Nazi party also tilted the symbol so that it was offset.

I bet the KKK-thing is just trolling/flaming; Kiddos are told they can't throw ice cream at people, so they throw sorbet instead.

Otherwise, I'm glad to be a PC player.

It was bound to happen, I have seen people make weed leaves, giant dicks, "wrestlers" shagging monkeys, verious animals getting fisted while a guy walks past etc etc.

When given the option to make some dirty or rude gesture people kids will, everytime. How many dicks and weed leaves have you seen on school books/toilet walls/backs of seats/on trains and buses?

It just tells everybody how cool immature they are, it's ever so slightly more subtle than running round with "scum" written on a sandwhich board (think of Bruce willis in die hard).

A system where any dumbass can make his emblem whatever they want regardless of what or how offensive the material is with absolutely no steps in place to prevent people from using any such offensive imagery? Yeah, that's a pretty stupid idea in my books.

Giving people the ability to create there own emblems was bound to end in tears.

What with humanity and all.

Knowing that they are mentally and socially challenged, I don't blame them. They grab every single chance of attention, good or bad. They think it's cool to be a racist ass, just leave them be and they'll realize they are not...

Well it was gonna happen sooner or later, you can't give people that much freedom over even little things like that, they are bound to get abused and this is again why we as a community of gamers get all the hate from everyone else.

No I think Treyarch should be able to let players customize as much as they want its not there fault that 90% of cod players are immature twats and once those people get banned cod, live, psn and the whole gaming community will be better as a whole.

I think it's great, I love the ability to make whatever emblen you want.
It's not Treyarch's fault.

Xbox Kids are dicks, and I wish I could punch every one of the racist arrogant fucktards in the face, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

The worst I've seen is a pink rabbit and a green monkey in the same image. It wasn't offensive, it just looked damn retarded.

I think people need to get off their fucking high horses. I mean jeez, who really cares? You aren't doing it are you? I'm not doing it. Ultimately it is just an expression of freedom of speech with an unhealthy dose of being anonymous which inevitably leads to people being disrespectful. This is something that the internet and connected gaming culture has had to deal with for a long time.

If you are really going to be a so over-sensitive about such a thing then maybe we should ban voice communication as well, as racism is pretty much a part of that too. Hell, why not just ban all internet communication? People will then be safe and out of the harming death rays these stupid children?s attention seeking emblems produce.

The problem is with the aforementioned anonymity of the internet connected with no rules or punishment for misdemeanours. If they were warned once or twice, then banned, people would soon stop being such big dicks. That is why the real world works better than the internet, because there is fear of punishment.

Ultimately, I laugh at their attempts to be controversial, and move one.

This was kinda bound to happen, you give a community like the decent folks on Xbox live creative freedom, this is going to happen.
Thank god LittleBigPlanet isn't on the 360.

I know it's not all or even most users, but the idiots that do it give all of us a bad image. That's something we don't need right now.

You're implying that it's only 360 users who produce this kind of shit? Little Big Planet had it's share of controversial images and level designs but the difference here is that they got quickly taken down. And I mean really quickly. There was an article on here a few months ago wishing for the "adult content" of Little Big Planet to be released; hell, I'd definitely get that! Who wouldn't want to run through a level swinging on giant dicks and catapulting yourself into a fat man's arse???

As Pleasant Kenobi said, this has been a problem with the internet for a while. You simply laugh at them and move on.

I rarely notice it on the ps3.

Just remember that parents are lazy, too ... and it's not just 17+ yr olds playing the M-rated games. The kiddos want to be cool and be noticed playing 'big-boy' games.

I could go on, but I think that about says it.

It's Xbox live, what do you expect?

It's not a bad idea, and it's been in a lot of games prior to Black Ops, it's just that Black Ops attracts a certain type of player...

See... this is exactly why we can't handle freedom like that. The second you give gamers customization, you're going to be flooded with dicks and racism. And we wonder why the media hates us...

I think that it's good that they tried, but obviously they're not doing their job to monitor what's going into it.
