Black Ops, is there any hope?

Black Ops for PC, a perfect example of a terrible console port with no consideration for anything other than the 360, i also hear people on the PS3 are having similar framerate issues.
For those of you who don't know the sordid tale, Treyarch released the game so full of game-ruining bugs and glitches that it is to this day unplayable for a lot of people, even after multiple patches that supposedly fixed the issues.
I can run MW2 on max settings, but even on minimum settings, BLOPS lags so much in singleplayer that it is unplayable. I have every patch, it doesn't make a differance, and many people are reporting the same problems.
Is there some kind of community patch, or some kind of work-around? I realise i'm a little late to the party, but i've only just picked up the COD series after finally getting a good PC, and i was enjoying them so far.

I'm having the same issues with it, and in the end I just couldn't be bothered trying to find a cure. However I hear Filefront may have a solution for it so try there.

I'll have a look around, and i'll be sure to post it here if i find a solution.
I'm not gonna let this game beat me so easily.

Some "multiplatform" games are really only meant to be played on one platform. Before buying any game I always find out which platform it runs best on because developers are too lazy to optimize for all of them.

Take for example any Valve game, they should only ever be played on the PC because any other version will suck terribly. All other multiplatform games are the same way, they figure out which platform they'll probably have the most sales on, and focus for developing for that platform instead of giving equal time to all 3.

I disagree, the Orange Box for the 360 was excellent, i think this is just typical Activision/Treyarch behaviour, they're notorious for being bastards.

The Orange Box on the PS3 was (and still is) complete garbage, and both the xbox 360 and ps3 versions have yet to be updated even once. This is not excellent.

The update problem isn't a software problem, it's a conflict between Valve, who wants to release updates for free, and Microsoft and Sony who want people to pay for them through PSN and Xbox Live. The games themselves work very well.

well... that's a bit into the realm of computer voodoo, but...

Blops crashed all the time in SP, like, I could only play it in short bits of a few minutes,
UNTIL I adjusted the two setting.ini files (for SP and MP) to the actual specs of my system AND desinstalled Antivir. But that was more or less directly after release (yeah, I know..;) and the first patch solved the strange incompatibilty with that specific antivirus-software...

The PS3 version is nothing but software problems, with nothing but framerate issues and glitches. Even Valve admitted to have been embarrassed by the end result a couple of years after the release (but then they blamed the PS3 for being "hard to program for").

Really? i'm thoroughly surprised, i bought the 360 version and was very satisfied, i was actually shocked at how well the Source Engine translated to 360 hardware.
I wonder how they messed up the PS3 port so badly? I thought Valve was hinting at some kind of partnership with Steam and PSN?
Perhaps the hardware is just too different from that used by Microsoft?

That's just for the extra updates they release that add new things to the game for free.

I'd rather they actually fix the gamebreaking problems first. TF2 is full of exploits. I couldn't play through the HL games without running into some kind of "stuck in wall" glitch or something that forced a reset. Portal was good, but short.

Valve just really is a terrible developer for consoles. One of the best for PC, but just as shit for consoles as Black Ops was for PC.

I have the orange box on 360 and I don't see anything wrong with it. The lack of updates does not bother me as I don't like TF 2 all that much anyway.

I think the PS3 version was outsourced to EA who made a terrible cock up of it. Now Valve better understands the PS3 they are Sony's new ***** with all this Portal is best on PS3 stuff.
