Forgive me if I'm a little late to the game here... I tend to skip over Black Ops related news, and a forum search didn't say anything about this.

I was loading up Steam to play a bit of Shogun, and I got offered a free weekend of Black Ops multiplayer, with Steam offering a 33% discount on the full game for the duration. I was a little intrigued, but then I saw the price, and my interest in playing the game melted against the shock.

It's priced on Steam at $100.

I'll admit, I've been out of the loop on buying full retail price for games for a while now... I usually wait for sales. But that's over £60 for a standard, albeit popular, first person shooter.

I looked to see what the game offered, and it didn't mention anything beyond what you'd expect from an FPS. No extra features to warrant the price tag. They even expect you to pay extra for some DLC.

Basically, I'm asking if I've just been out of the new game loop for too long, and this is normal, or if I'm missing something. Not really that interested in buying the game, since FPSs aren't my thing anymore, I was just curious.

100$ for black OPs?

I wouldn't pay a 60$ price tag, let alone that much for that game. I'm glad I played my friends copy long enough to decide I didn't like it.

I can't imagine that the correct price when on sale.

I'm certain that's wrong. I just checked steam and saw £26.79 with the discount, less than half what you saw. Probably a steam glitch. What region are you in?

The fact that it is popular, and still has great sales despite the fact that it is nearing a year old and still sells extremely well. That's all they need to know to keep the price up. Heck, MW2 didn't drop below 60 until a few months after Black Ops came out. Prices are set by what the market is willing to bear, not necessarily related to the quality of the product, just what the most people will pay for.

And for some reason, 60 dollars for Black Ops seems a fair deal. I guess the multiplayer is really good or something.

Just checked the prices for other games. Everything else looks reasonable. It's just Black Ops.

And to clear up any confusion, it's $100 before the sale. On sale it's $66.99.
