I've seen a couple of threads around asking Escapists whether or not they have any siblings, and that made me curious. Everyone who's got a brother or sister has to have some sort of anecdote to tell about them, so what are yours? Any interesting, entertaining or just messed-up stories to tell?
I'll start things off:
I've probably mentioned this on the Escapist before, but I'm a triplet. Now, from the way some people react when they hear about my siblings and I, you'd think we'd just announced we were vampires or circus freaks. There's a lot of double-takes and general disbelief when we tell people, and it's caused quite a few problems. Take when I was fifteen for example: we all went to our local shopping centre just to muck about and kill some time, and after a while we all got a little sick of each other and split up. I wandered off on my own, and found that they had a special promotion going for magazine subscriptions, which I decided to sign up for. I wrote down my surname, DOB and my mum's e-mail and made to walk away, but a security guard called me back, for he'd seen something amiss. He pointed out the sign-up sheet and just a little way up the sheet, a few lines apart, there were two identical surnames and birth dates, and our mothers email. A decent example of an 'Oh shit' moment there.
So I was accused of trying to cheat the system. I went right into it explaining my family circumstances, but he was having none of it, and assumed I was messing him around. I don't know what's so unbelievable about triplets, or why I'd want to cheat my way to three identical magazines, but maybe he was just thick. The manager was called after much arguing, and in the end I was forced to call the other two away from whatever they were doing, and have them come and prove their own existence. Yes, we are real. Yes, we signed up (fucking handwriting should have been a clue). No, she's not scamming you. Now bugger off and leave us alone.
