Nearly all Multiplayer games has them. Characters that are just overpowered. They normally show up in Fighting games but can appear in other genres like Racing or FPS.

I got a couple good examples.

In Super Smash Bros Brawl this award goes to Sonic and his Final Smash. I am fairly certain his Final Smash is why Smash Orbs were banned in tourneys.

In Dragonball Z Budekai Tenkaichi 2 and 3 it would be Jenemba and Super Sayian 4 Gogeta. They are way too fast and powerful. Whenever me and my friends play 5 on 5 fights we normally have to ban them or Handicap the team using them so they have 3 instead of 5 characters to fight with.

Anyways do you got any characters that are just not fair to play with/against? Ones that basically break the game?

Sonic's final smash isn't over-powered. Metaknight is the most over-powered character in the game.

For me, it's probably how over-powered some of the weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are, namely the Akimbo FMG9s and the Type-95 Rapid-Fire.

Yes but Metaknights final smash is weak and can easily be dodged. Plus I never have any problems with fighting him. Bot or friends.

Over powered? Lucas's is instakilling game breaking over powered, at least ness has the option to avoid it. The only way to survive lucas is to use the "turn into a rock" move that Kirby has.

Lets not forget about Ike's.......

Meta Knight takes a fair deal of skill to use, if you use it right, you can get insta-kills you have earned.

Sonic's is a mix for me.

Do vehicles count? Because frankly the Scorpion from Halo is a major offender when it comes to being overpowered, and the banshee is even worse.

Oh yeah, and Craig Boone in Fallout New Vegas

Since I don't play with final smashes...

Meta-knight, who is now banned in some tournaments now (if I recall correctly in the unity ruleset)

...And then there's yun before street fighter 4 2012. Words need not be said.

A special mention goes to O.Sagat on super street fighter 2 (and turbo). TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER (ok now jump) TIGER UPPERCUT (oh there goes 1/3 of my hp)

Not multiplayer, or even games, but Goku in general is ridiculously overpowered. And again not multiplayer, but Kratos is pretty fuckin' ridiculous.

Wesker in UMVC3. Not sure if that last patch a few days ago did jack to him but he has:

High health, high speed with a load of teleports just for extra lols, high bloody damage, an piss easy downward gunshot that hits OTG to extend combos (can be used multiple times and as an assist.)

Oh and who could forget Maximum Wesker? It's a full screen hyper that randomly crosses up (you blocked it? Tough shit) and can be near impossible to punish if he knows what he's doing. Oh yeah if his glasses get broken (or taken off as part of Maximum Wesker's introduction) he has permanent Lvl 1 X Factor, so he gets even MORE damage and speed.

It also stacks with regular X Factor so he's the only character in the game who can reach Lvl 4 X Factor.

It's a proven fact that any team, no matter how difficult WILL work if you add Wesker to it.

Did i forget anything?

OP weapons in recent games are any AK and the FAMAS, and thanks to quickscoping noobs a lot of sniper rifles have become game breaking too.

Mitsurugi in Soul Calibur... such a noob character.

Orlandeau from Final Fantasy Tactics. Good to excellent stats, a wide range a powerful abilities and when he joins your party, he comes with equipped Excalibur, one of the best weapons in the game.

Same game, a properly built Calculator can also be a real gamebreaker capable of wiping out entire enemy parties in one turn, with a little luck.

Seth from Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones

The man clearly ate his veggies, exercised, and drank PURE AWESOME every day of his life.
It's a Jeigan without any of the drawbacks of actually being a Jeigan...

And since he's meant to be the Jeigan, you get him from the very first chapter.
Scary.

The Harvester from Dragon Age: Origins - Golems of Amgarrak. So. God. Damn. Frustrating. I actually defeated him on hardcore difficulty with a warrior character, yay for me. Took me about half an hour. It was not fun.

There's got to be at least one in every fighting game. For SSBB, my friend always picked Ike, and always got the smash ball. I won't say anything else.

The thing about Golems of Agmarrak is that the Steel Golem is your only healer if you didn't import a mage with healing spells. And it is a sloooowww caster.

The trick about the fight is to just focus on the Harvester and stay near the switch so you can get the corpses off your back for a bit (while also being able to still do normal physical damage to the Harvester).

Golems of Agmarrak is hard, though. On the flip side, Awakening is stupidly easy even on Nightmare. You have to actively nerf your character and party to make it challenging (some people say you should just solo it, but that takes out the fun of the party dynamic).

Are you referring to his variable cancel? Or his moveset in general? Because w/o the vc, he is far from the strongest character.

OT: Krauser from RE4 mercenaries was pretty op... the arm... THE AAAAARRMMMM

Yes to both accounts. Pretty sure that right from the git-go T.G. Cid can one-shot any enemy on the board...and to modify a line from Major Payne: "If he's still not dead, he ain't happy." Taking over 600 damage and having your weapon broken will tend to do that to an NPC. :p

As for the Calculator, I prefered mastering that class and then switching to something a bit faster...like a Time Mage with Calculate as it's secondary ability. :3

As for my own addition to the topic, I'd have to say Broly. The last DBZ fighter I played was Raging Blast 2 and Broly just absolutely brutalizes people...especially his unblockable super-throws.

I also recall Kid Buu being pretty ridiculously awesome if you used him right.

And for that matter, if the subject isn't specifically about games, Kid Buu as a character is just obscenely overpowered. Vaporize him as much as you want, he'll just pop back to normal at full health and strength. Or maybe turn into a swarm of tiny versions of himself each capable of firing volleys of energy blasts. Quite simply if the DB fighting games made Kid Buu as strong as he's depicted in the manga/anime, it would literally be like playing the game on god-mode.

I think he's referring to the fact MetaKnight is S-Tier on the Tier list. You have to be incredibly particular when you go for the ring out, it's damn near impossible with him, not to mention he has like a million jumps. Sonic is like 22 on the tier list, mostly because he like 1 move that can ring people out.

If you want to talk about overpowered character, go on any board discussing Soul Calibur characters. I'm sure you can find someone saying any character should be banned for one reason or a another. On that note, Fuck Algol

There... there was a switch to get rid of the corpses?

Well, shit.
