This looks indeed to be more of a sequel to Demon's than Dark Souls. Even the central hub you resurrect to after death and where you need to warp through a sort of archstone to your next location. Still this looks so insanely fun though. That mysterious atmosphere full of subtlety and melancholy also seem to be back in full effect.

I want this game so baaaaaad!! :p

Really, I should be trying to keep myself away from spoilers... buuuuuut since it's unlikely I'll be getting a PS4 anytime soon I might as well. *Frustration slowly builds up*

there's a nexus and the guy running it is kind of patch faced AND the voice for the maiden in the background? I'm throwing all speculation out the window, this has to be set in the Demon's Souls world.

I will have to say, it didn't spoil too much in terms of what to expect from a From RPG. Other than a few things, it looks to be simply the alpha with some more stuff added in content and story. But I'd hardly say this ruins it for me, especially since I have seen the alpha played time and time again.

From what I gathered it really is going to be within Demons Souls setting, which is a great thing because Dark was kinda boring for me.

No, I don't think so. There are some esoteric similarities, sure, but I don't think they are any more than that. The same people that worked on Demon's Souls also worked on this one so this being a sort of 'spiritual sequel' there are bound to be design similarities. Infact this looks much like a faster-paced, gothic version of Demon's Souls. :p

Aside from some of these smaller similarities(the nexus isn't the actual reason I'm saying this, it was more of a confirmation of there being too many connections for me to see it as a coincidence), that is the voice actress for the maiden in black, and that was her only previous role, so it seems like it'd be weird to bring her back one more time if she wasn't doing her same role again. Not to mention the secret boss in the alpha, which only creates more connections story wise. And now we're shown even more connections gameplay wise, so it all feels too close to be coincidental, though no one can be absolutely certain at this point.

And that PS4 purchase just gets better and better. That said, holy crap they aren't even pretending this isn't a Souls game are they? Beyond the hugely similar style and mechanics(and UI, and difficulty based hype, and ect.), I think I actually saw some animations I recognized from Dark Souls.

Looks excellent as expected. Looking forward to playing it... though the coming of a translated Yakuza 5 means it isn't the game I'm most looking forward to... Yakuza is just that good.

To be fair, I don't think they ever said anything to the contrary, nor did the fans really want anything else.

That being said, while it is a Souls game at heart, from what I've been seeing and hearing of Bloodborne, it has its own unique flavor.

OT: COME ON Bloodborne! Come out and make my PS4 purchase worthwhile!

I liked it. Looking forward to purchasing it. So many questions about what is going on, but I suppose that's what makes it a Souls-type game...

The only thing I'm hoping for is better weapons. I'm positive that you can get many more than just that cleaver, but I wonder how long it will take. Because I've never really liked the look of that thing, even all the way back when the teaser trailer was first shown. It just looks so...weird to me, like it would be a pain to fight with.

Interesting. The three guys at the fire seemed oddly complacent with the sound of things being brutally murdered around them enough for the Hunter to sneak up on them like that. It looks like it could use a healthy dose of polish but it seems incredibly interesting. And the story seems like it will be better than the Dark's.

I wonder if most of the weapons will be as cool as the saw cleaver or not, but that blunderbuss seemed like garbage, performance wise. The town seems nice and open, but I can't tell if enemies were back-spawning or not. They certainly have the atmosphere down, and the messengers remind me of the kid things from Rule of Rose.

I really wish I had the money for a PS4 now, I'd much rather play this myself than watch it on Youtube. Then again, it seems to handle like DS 1 and Demon Souls, which makes me sad because I love how the controls of DS II feel.

Bottom line is the game looks really good.

He wasn't doing a very good job of utilizing it. The developers have said that firearms aren't meant primarily as a means of doing damage, but as a means of interrupting the enemy, allowing you to use an execution move on the enemy (which I believe he does at one point) or to simply give the player some breathing room. Also, since the game no longer has shields, it basically replaces the ability to parry, while requiring less precise timing, but only having limited uses.

Also, is it confirmed that blood vials will be the only method of healing? Because it seems like an item that you need to buy/farm but I always liked the concept of limited but free healing items that Dark Souls had with the Estus flask, and even considered Lifegems to be a weakening of that mechanic in Dark Souls 2. I hope that won't be how it works.

I don't mind games being exclusive to a single platform... unless it's for a game I want to play. Though at least I have that ultimate edition of Dark Souls 2 to keep me occupied while it's out.

I loved Yakuza 4, but I always found it weird how enemies were just so hesitant to attack you a lot of the time, especially when I was playing as the counter dude (cant remember his name). I could barely use his counter because the enemies were so content to just stand there and let me choke their buddies out.

I can understand why you'd be hesitant to attack Kiryu or Saejima though.

OT: Ugh I need a PS4 soon, what with Bloodborne coming out soon and Street Fighter V being announced for it, im starting to lose my restraint on just buying one

And let's not forget that the patch for Dark Souls II is coming out this Thursday, which is said to make the game a whole new experience. I'm hoping that can hold me over until Bloodborne.
