I don't know if anyone has googled the term "bloodmouth" recently, but it is apparently a new term militant vegans (not all vegans, mind, just the more angry ones) use to call meat eaters. This term is used along with "bloodwhore" and "carnist". My reaction to this is, well, pretty much the opposite of what I think they intended. By that I mean I think its pretty much the most metal name I can possibly be called, so i'm embracing the term. I love it. I am bloodmouth! Hear me roar!

This got me thinking, I bet there is a wonderful amount of horribly applied "insults" that have been attempted over the years and was wondering what the weirdest ones you've heard were. Also up for discussion, how do you respond to bloodmouth?

Oh, here's a source for the bloodmouth tag on tumblr (edit: This being tumblr, NSFW stuff might turn up)

The first one that comes to mind is "breeder," a derogative term for heterosexuals. Also "Cracker" as an insult makes me laugh, mainly because in my home state (Florida), "cracker" is the term for people whose families were among the first to immigrate, because the main industry at the time was cattle driving. So it still has to do with cracking whips, but on cattle, not people. Anyway, it's a compliment to those who know their Florida history.

I wouldn't mind being called a "bloodmouth" if I actually liked my steak rare. As it stands, though, I don't so I don't feel it applies to me. I'd happily welcome something more descriptive, like "fleshmouth" or "meatmouth". Damn, I'm getting hungry now.

Even if you did eat steak rare, that isn't blood, it's myoglobin [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myoglobin], so the term 'bloodmouth' isn't applicable unless you actually rip the flesh from an animal with your own teeth.

OT: Tribalism, 'us and them' mentality. Nothing to worry about though, us carnivores are too busy being awesome.

I knew that (or at least I knew it wasn't blood), however it's close enough in looks for me to consider the term acceptable.

But now, "steakmouth", yeah, I'd love to be called that. Imagine saying something like "So, fellow steakmouths, shall we go indulge in some cooked flesh from a formerly living being that was sacrificed for us?" Damn, that makes me want a steak so much. But I don't have any :(

Bloodmouth? Carnist? I would love it if someone called me that, sounds badass! Insults are only going to be insulting if the person receiving them doesn't want to be that, calling someone an asshole is insulting because no one wants to be an asshole, but calling someone a meat eater as an insult? "Why yes, I do eat meat, how kind of you to notice." Only a vegan is going to be insulted by being called a meat eater, zero thought has gone into this from the vegans.

Why do I feel like someone made up "Bloodmouth" after having masturbated to some really weird Harry Potter fanfic.

Probably "Okie(s)" (OH-kee(s)), a not so nice term for people from Oklahoma. Particularly poor people who moved to California after the Dust Bowl.

Also, "eggplant".

That does indeed sound awesome... it makes me want meat. I will go cook some
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAMN NIGHT just to spite vegan sadpandas
I think pretty much any subgroup comes up with hilarious insults. I can't remember what it was, but I heard some dweeby vampire kids insult someone for being a fake, and came up with a word for it. I laughed my ass off.

on the other hand, after reading too much into it, I realized "fetcher" from TES is a GREAT insult in an rpg. What do the weakest, most laughably incapable (level ones) characters have to do for cash or easy xp? fetch quests. "i'm too lazy to go to the store, bring me that book"
and really, even at the top, you do fetch quests, they just put more stuff between you and the artifact, which is now usually more expensive. so you are being called out as just a lame little delivery boy

This man^ has won the internetz today my friends.

OT: I have to agree with pretty much everyone here, bloodmouth is an awesome thing to be called and it makes me hunger for beast flesh. o.o

Oh and also it'd be a great name for a metal band, maybe I need to learn to play metal.

And so the hardcore vegans missed the point of an insult...
But yeah, I can't think anything more random or un-offensive than bloodmouth.

In Britain a cracker is an lightly salted biscuits made to go with cheese and other small snacks.

And taste rather nice. So i can't say i find the term cracker very offensive either.

Ahh, another case of "It's offensive to us, so it must be an insult!". Seriously, only a Vegan could think that bloodmouth would actually be an insult.
As a reaction to that they will probably think that we're all primitive blood loving maniacs, to find such a term not offensive.

LOL

That's pretty damn entertaining. Even though I eat primarily vegetables I would thank someone for calling me such an awesome name.
