You know, I have nothing against people who sometimes want to just enjoy ploughing through defenceless low level npc's every now and then. Just to blow some steam off or watch the helpless little things explode into clouds of gore as your guns tear through what was once a death defying struggle but now barely slows you down.

But the players of Boaderlands take this to a whole new level. Not only do they constantly use modded bullshit guns that spray shots that do 99999 damage they also go online with them, and show off these guns and just paste the hardest enemies in moments. Its not really that annoying, just pathetic and laughable. Less like going back to your old primary school and remembering how small you were back then and more like trying to live there and beat up all the small children shouting "GOOO MEEE!" everytime you cripple a five year old. I wouldn't comment but there are just so many of them, running about challenging people to duels just to instantkill them.
I wonder, does boaderlands attract the most cowardly, pathetic gamers of all time just because it is so very easy to break the game? And does having a playerbase like this sometimes take away the fun for everbody else?

After all trying to enjoy an epic adventure online with friends and scavenging for rare loot is ruined when some some prat runs into your server and blows it all up with a gun firing a cluster of twenty hyperexplosive rockets each doing 9001 damage each is just about as immersion breaking as you can get.

It's what turned me away from Borderlands Multiplayer straight away.

I couldn't find a single matchup that didn't have someone at lvl 9000 1-hitting everything. And whenever i found someone on the list that was a similar level to me they went "YOU NEED HELP" and relogged as their level 40 >.<

I need to gather up friends to play this!

Pointless rant is pointless. But I'm going to focus on the part that stood out at me;

Oh damn I spelt Borderlands wrong! Ah well.

It's called dicking around. Don't like it? Play LAN instead.

PS, it's spelled 'Borderlands'.
As I said at the start, I am no stranger to dicking around. I used to play resident evil 4 over and over just to acquire stupidly overpowered weapons. And I really enjoyed it. But these people in borderlands go online, and show off their guns like "Oh yeah this is a Hydromatic XJ11 tridore ect ect" after having duelled you and used it on you. And when you ask if it is modded they reveal it does 99999 damage and you just cant help but think Why? Why would you just run around killing scags with the handgun equivalent of a nuke. Also multiplayer is a major part of Borderlands and friends are not always going to be online.

That's every online game. People always exploit the small things in games to make it almost unplayable.

Wether it be glitches, bugs, cheats, or just straight hacking, some people can't have fun until they prove that they're the best out there, even though using any of those means automatically puts them in the "worst players ever" category.

I have no experience with Borderlands online, but speaking from experience with other games, it does generally ruin the fun for everyone. Nobody wants to play against a cheater, and nobody wants one on their team.

Get Get the armory of General Knoxx.

It deletes modded guns.
It does? I saw plenty of people using modded guns while playing General Knoxx. In fact that is the only expansion I bought. But still perhaps some of the modded weapons are deleted by that DLC. Thanks for the advice!

Is the OT looking for someone to play with? I'm really just getting into the game so I have a level 32 siren, level 12 berserker and an entry level (7 and under) soldier and hunter I would be happy to join a game with whichever is most appropriate for the team.

Can we still play together if I don't have any DLC?

When games ban modded guns

modders make better guns

12 people working on a patch can't stop several million cheaters

I don't know what you are talking about. Mods have never ruined my game (it's called owning an xbox 360 for future reference).

Have fun playing Boaderlands :). Now, if you don't mind I'm going to play Borderlands.

It could last I played, but there's just the obvious restriction of not being able to go into the new areas. Not sure how the guns would work, though (like your friend tries handing your a special gun from one of the DLC). Doubt it would matter.

Thats what I realised after I made that comment. I came to the realisation that there is really no way Gearbox could possibly stop modders. If they make fixes for all the mods then the modders make new mods. Simple as that.

Actually, those are the real guns.

Some are just massively overpowered.

I had a pistol which could fire like 15 shots per second and a class mod which then almost doubled it and topped off with the "Big Tony says Hi" text, giving it a massive magazine.

The whole point of the game is to find as overpowered of a weapon as possible.

I think any time there's a large concentration of modded players in a game, there's something wrong. However, you can't expect any less from a game that is potentially easy to break. It's why you see so many 10th prestige 70s in Modern Warfare 2 and so many people with instakill in Borderlands.

Modders can't be stopped from trying to cheat... that's all there is to it.

Unfortunately, the modders are all over the place in the Xbox version as well. It's irritating to do matchmaking for the sake of finding players who just want to roll with you, because there's always one dick running around destroying everything, ruining the point of you playing the game, and constantly screaming "DUEL ME" into your ear. Then when you finally concede to his demands, he kills you in one hit screaming "LOL I HAV MODDED GUN! I R SO COOL!!!"

I make it a point to report anyone who has modded guns whenever I play that game, whether they're helping me out or ganking me for lulz. Either way, it defeats the purpose of the game. Why should I even bother playing if some ass-tard is going to just pop on and kill everything I wanted to shoot at in a first person shooter? I don't want to be a damn spectator to someone else's "awesomeness."

EDIT: You know what? I agree wholeheartedly with the OP. They are cowards. I got to level 50 legitimately, whereas they used their super perfect 9000% burst fire infinite ammo sniper rifle that does 20k damage per hit to boost themselves to that point.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Ive only had one person show up in my games so far in borderlands that tried to dump a bunch of modded (I assume, they were all orange) guns on me for the most part I only get people around my level since I posted a level range in the name of my room or server or whatever

Ragging on the dude for mispelling borderlands? really? Come on, at least tell him to qq more scrub or something

Related news, if people want to play with modded stuff, they can go nuts, if you find people joining your game with modded stuff, leave, or host private games, or play singleplayer

semi related news, I was interested in the DLC, but the prices are ridonkulous and i missed out on the steam sale, is General Knoxx the only one worth buying if I was to buy one? Since it seems to add the most content, and I heard Zombie DLC was lame, Moxxi is just arenas and I dont care much for that, and I forget the other one

Boaderlands lmao. You fucked up before you even wrote those four paragraphs.

Please contribute to the thread instead of only saying "Its borderlands, not Boarderlands".

XD Be gone Grammar Nazi's. Seriously making fun of some ones spelling is childish. Go back to 4Chan.

OP: I feel you. Thats why I mostly stay offline unless its my friends. I hate it when some whiny little kid comes in and yells and says "I GOT A MOD GUN!". Just stay offline.
