So apparently there lots of snow in the American Midwest as of today.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41365053/ns/weather/?GT1=43001

I am in Wyoming and we got a bit of snow Monday night. I think it reached around -50 C later at night. That, plus we already had at least a few inches of snow and ice (mostly ice) from the last snowstorm that refuses to even consider melting away.

No school closures here, but still plenty of complaining. It's just after noon here and it's about -30 C. And man am I tired of the complaining...shit, yes, it's cold, but deal with it. I don't even have a car so I have to walk anywhere I want to go. I get a bit of an evil smirk whenever I hear people complaining about the walk from building A to building B 50 meters away.

Mmmkay, end rant. Anyways, for those who may also be caught in this 'storm', how has it affected your daily routine so far? IS it really that bad?

Erm, since you're saying it's 50/30 under zero, in Celcius, then I think they have a right to complain.
I mean seriously, I live in England and we treat it cold at -20.
And that's one time, in the middle of the night.

Awww wish we got real snow and cold like that. In the UK we're lucky if we get a measly couple of inches and temperatures of -2C. And even then everyone whinges like it's the end of the world.
But I love it

Ha. Ha ha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I live in Erie Pennsylvania. Every year we get slammed with so much cold and snow that have literally become immune to it. So if you're in the southern part of the country, don't come crying to me because you had to shut the city down due to an ich of snow. You will get no sympathy from me on that matter. Here. it's not a snow day unless the roads, phone lines, and cars are completely encased in ice. And even then, it's only a 2 hour delay.

I'm in the Northwest area of Ohio and we've only gotten a bit of the storm (we're going to get some later in the evening) and while it may not be initially cold the wind is blowing very hard which makes things extra cold.

Well, the roads are terrible here thanks to the fact that New England roads don't hold up very well anyway. The cold isn't pissing me off as much as the fact that if you want to leave your house where I am you have to shovel through 2.5 feet of snow. That and the fact that I'm missing out on a ton of classes (my high school is going to be going until almost July) and that my college doesn't make them up as much (it just means they give us more work in less time).

I wish we got snow here where I live. During the really cold days, we barely even get frost on the grass.

Us in the UK had epic snow over Xmas!

It's actually mild in Wales this week about 9C, I hate it when it's windy as fuck though and my jaw locks through being so cold.

I live in Winnipeg, Canada. It's an abnormal day if it isn't below -20C and/or 4 feet of snowfall. Lots of people complain around here, but seriously-- it really isn't that bad. Worst-case scenario your car battery dies and you need to get it boosted.

To the OP - Wahhhh!!!! XD Trying living in Pittsburgh. We get snow, storms, ice, anything, and we still go to school or get a two hour delay (which in and of itself is rare). I remember the year Katrina came through, and we got the microburst from it and we still had to go to school on time. With downed trees and power lines abound.

OT: personally I love the snow, just hate the cold. So it doesnt disrupt my commute. Actually, it makes it more fun, causeI either get to take the snowy empty back roads, or the icy main roads. And it just means I walk alittle bit slower on pavement (black ice and all). And its not really that bad. Not compared to last year at least (which still wasnt that bad.

We don't get cancellations or delays or anything. Our Uni always tells us to suck it up, which I like :p

I think I'm getting that storm tomorrow and we should be getting about 15 inches of snow, here in western New York...

Honestly the scientific community has dug it's grave showing the global warming thing was just to keep funds flowing and now it's cold...

It's climate change.

Odd how it gets hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

Like we haven't been alive long enough to know this...seasons change...weather changes.

We will hit freezing in Houston, and with one for the best freeways systems in the world...

When the ice hits and the dorks in the pickup thing they can still drive 90 mph, I am so gonna laugh...

In Ireland we are the biggest babies ever when it comes to the cold, it snowed for a bit and everything shuts down due to it, an entire week of school, it was almost like the school board didn't know what those strange white flakes were and claimed "the end is nigh!, let the students spend their final moments in the arms of their parents!"

I'll complain about anything below 5 degrees and when i tell my swedish cohort about it he tells me its -20 in sweden, i dont even understand the concept of something being below -5, shuts me right up.

Niether does mine. Well, we got a two hour delay, which I kinda liked since I had a rough night of sleep the night before. BUt other then that, we dont. I was talking about high school during the microburst and such. Cause we werent going to let 40-60 mile winds and having no power stop us from learning. Especially when we had to walk the last couple hundred yards since the roads were blocked.
