I was in the book store recently and the Throne of Glass cover caught my eye. I guess it had a bit of a Witcher look to it. Still, I know better than to judge a book by the cover. I'm not Yahtzee.

Jokes aside, it seems to be getting a lot of praise online, but the word "Teen" keeps popping up, and as a guy in his 30s, I want to be sure this is a book with a conflict and characters I can actually get interested in. If it lingers too much on teenage hangups and awkward romances, I'll probably lose interest.

Have any of you read "Throne of Glass"? What are your thoughts?

I haven't read it, but from what I'm told it's the kind of teen book that you have to be into teen books to enjoy.

having had the misfortune to read the book, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It's a very typical young adult novel with an amazing premise that tries a little too hard to make the protagonist "believable" and just winds up making "the worlds best assassin" a series of cliches and character traits that just kinda hover around in an almost-character shape.

It does have some nice humor in it, and if you're familiar with (and like) the kind of mass-marketed YA fantasy that is flooding the market; It's not unreadably awful, just don't get into it expecting Jay Kristoff or Robert Jordan levels of quality
