Exactly what it says on the tin. What was a book you read that people made fun of you for, could be for any reason.

Mine would be "The Prince" by Machiavelli everyone said it was dry and boring but I found it very interesting for a read.

So how about you?

Well, not a book, but The Inferno. You know, the poem that a decent game was based off of?

For some reason, people think it is funny that I read that, and call me a bookworm for it.

I've never been ridiculed for reading a specific book. I was, however, once ridiculed for reading in general. I then beat the offender unconscious with the copy of "A Clash of Kings" that I was reading. Hard-back, of course. Haven't had any trouble since then.

I overheard some people laughing at me for reading the Zombie Survival Guide at school a while back. They can laugh all they want but we'll see who's laughing when they're feeding on human flesh and getting shot in the head.

This, apparently doing something that requires a thought process and not having information blasted at your face is social taboo. Such a brilliant age we live in.

When I was in the fifth grade some idiot bullies were mocking me for reading The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy because they thought it was a stupid title.

...But admittedly they probably would have mocked me for reading ANY book, that's just the big one I remember being hassled about.

Pretty much just Twilight. That's the only one I can remember anyway. Didn't much like it, just wanted to see what the fuss was about. Most of the people I spend time with read alot anyway, and if it ever comes up in conversation with others then generally it's because they also read and want to pass on a good title.

It is a bit long though. I read it in eighth grade, while my language arts teacher didn't read it until college.
OT: I don't think that has ever really happened to me, since I am usually the one of the"smart" people within my classes, so reading those things is just seen as me being me.

For some stupid reason some one ridiculed me for reading the Grim Fairy Tales, saying that they're just for kids...Then I read him Little Red Riding Hood, and he shut up, so I was but I recovered

Kind of why I tried to read Pride & Prejudice. I don't read a lot anyway, so finishing that book just didn't really happen.

I read it just so I would have some idea why some girls love it.

I still don't really know why, lol.

The third chimpanzee by Jared Diamond, mostly by kids in my school who didn't understand it or are christian/religious or whatever.

My friends used to make fun of me for reading George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones until the television series premiered on HBO and everyone thought it was awesome. Now they're all asking me for copies of my books so they can read it too, har har.

People made fun of me for reading Romance of the Three Kingdoms, saying "lol u read romance books lol ur a girl and/or a fag", even though whenever there is romance, which is very rare, it is almost always immediately followed by gratuitous violence, i.e. Lu Bu, Diao Chan, or Dong Zhuo (using the DW names 'cause they're easier). Also, people saying "HEY THAT BOOK COPIED DYNASTY WARRIORS LOOK THEY BARELY EVEN CHANGED A LOT OF THE NAMES"

Still one of my favorite books (considered one with multiple volumes) regardless.

I guess it's a good thing that it wasn't A Storm of Swords, that probably would have killed the guy...

Luckily, I've never been ridiculed for reading. If anything, people are impressed by how much I read.
