Books Worth Rereading

Hello Everyone

As the title suggests, this thread concerns those books which bear the distinction of having been read more than once. Nevertheless, I'd also like to include books which one plans on rereading. I realize that this seems like little more than a "favorite" books thread, but it is not intended to be. I think there's a fairly big difference between a book worthy of being deemed a favorite and a book that one is tempted to read more than once. For example, I've reread 1984 a few times. However, my attempts to reread Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and The Stranger were met with the realization that the writing style was simply too straightforward to warrant a second reading so soon after the first (I presume that, in a few years, both novels will likely feel fresh again). Moreover, I think books which boast a very engrossing world are much better candidates for rereading than, say, a book of ideas (though, of course, the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive), despite the fact that both books may be considered favorites.

Without further ado...

1984
Crime and Punishment
The Master and Margarita
Most anything by Franz Kafka
Hamlet
Macbeth
Confederacy of Dunces
Fahrenheit 451
Animal Farm
To Kill a Mockingbird
Lord of the Flies
The Great Gatsby
Brave New World

The Unbearable Lightness of Being
Anything by Haruki Murakami
Doctor Zhivago
2001: A Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orange
Neuromancer
Death in Venice
East of Eden
The Winter of Our Discontent
Heart of a Dog
Confessions of a Mask

tl;dr: What books, if any, have you read more than once? Which books are you planning on rereading, whether for the first, second, third, etc. time?

Martin the Warrior. That book was just an amazing fantasy trip. Vivid, hilarious, epic, and thoughtful. Not to mention emotional:

Poor Rose! ;_;

but it was an amazing book. It got me through some tough times during Middle school.

The Holy Bible.

If you want to reread Martin The Warrior just read any other book by the same author. He's a one trick pony.

Just read Dominant species, which wasen't bad if you need your military loving erection rubbed a little. It was a little surprising though really, since in the middle it started to slow down then BANG picked up right away.

Currently reading Swarm, which I was hooked from the second I started reading it. $2.99 on kindle, so can't complain!

Books I've re-read are the Belgariad series. Damn good David Eddings books!

Oh and of course the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. You have to read the entire "5 book trilogy". Also don't let that stupid new movie be any reference to the book, it doesn't do it justice.

To me one of the greatest books ever written, perfect amount of intelligence and humor. I almost have it memorized and I could read it again and again and again.

Marvin has to be my favorite.

That brings to mind Haruki Murakami's The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle. The plot would be going on at a steady, moderate pace, but would suddenly experience a shocking up-tick right around the end of the part (the novel contains some three or four parts).

I haven't read the book, but I agree that the movie was pretty awful. I picked up the book from a thrift store just the other day.

I got into comic books a little over a year ago and, since then, have bought around 30 graphic novels and TPBs of comic sagas from DC and Marvel
Comic books I've read more than once are: Kick-Ass, Nemesis, Superman: Red Son, Marvel Civil War (all of which, I have just realized, are written by Mark Millar)
Also, Batman: The Killing Joke (Alan Moore), Batman: Year One and The Dark Knight Returns (Frank Miller)
I also plan on re-reading Watchmen, Green Lantern: Rebirth and Kick-Ass yet again and I'm currently reading Infinite Crisis (I love Geoff Johns)

Books I plan on buying/reading: Green Lantern: Blackest Night (already bought), Crisis On Infinite Earths, Final Crisis, Superman: Secret Origin, Batman: Black Glove, Batman: RIP and Superman: Braniac

If you're really into graphic novels, then I'd highly recommend V for Vendetta. I personally enjoyed it more than Watchmen.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy. I've read and reread the Harry Potter series about 5 times. And I want to reread Jim Butchers' series, The Dresden Files. I'd also like to reread his other one, Codex Alera.

I just love series that foreshadow events, or draw back on previously established connections. Then when you go back and read them again, you see exactly what's going on.

Hmm, well I reread Ulysses but that was simply to get my head round it... which I still don't entirely if I'm being honest. But ones I definitely will come back to again include:

Martin Amis: Yellow Dog
Ian McEwan: The Cement Garden, Enduring Love
Richard Matheson: I Am Legend
Bret Easton Ellis: American Psycho
Iain Banks: The Bridge, The Wasp Factory
Margaret Atwood: The Blind Assassin, Oryx and Crake

The foundation series, considered to be one of the best sci fi series of all time.

I would also recommend a song of ice and fire, even those who dislike fantasy like it, and the writing is anything but straight forward.

Make sure you read all 5 books to fully appreciate everything, nowadays most book stores just sell the "ultimate" versions that have all 5 in one big one. And the plot of the movie was SOOO far off, pretty much it just had characters of the same name. Only about 2% of that movie was from the book, and just the first book too, rest was just made up shit.

I thought Final Crisis was a waste of time. A waste of money, and I got it for 75% off. I mean...the treatment of Martian Manhunter alone...ugh...

OT: (and to the poster I just quoted, these are all highly recommended, and are all graphic novels.) BATMAN - Year One, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Catwoman: When In Rome, Arkham Asylum: A Serious House On Serious Earth, Hush, The Killing Joke, Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader, and The Dark Knight Strikes Again
VERTIGO - All of Transmetropolitan, Sandman, Preacher, and Y: The Last Man, V For Vendetta, We3
OTHER - The Boys, Wanted, The Walking Dead
