When I read "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card a few years ago, I was sure someone would adapt the book for film. Unfortunately I'm still waiting. What book have you read that would make for an awesome movie? Bonus points for director and actor recommendations.

None of them.
Just about every movie adaption disappoints people and reading a book is so much better.

I agree.

They too often change important things in order to create an extra action scene or add an explosion to keep the attention spans of the drooling morons that take up the majority of the population. Just look at the Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring films.

All the rest of Dan Brown's books. Seriously, that guy has talent.
I can't tell how sarcastic you are so I shall give two responses:

1) Are you kidding? The basic idea is the same for all his works!?

2) Hahahahahahahaha, that's a good one!

I'd like to see "The Dresden Files" by Jim Butcher made into a series of movies or even just TV Movies. I tried to watch the TV series but it sucked! They changed too much from the books!

Anything by Clive Cussler...

Preferably The Oregon Files
Ahh Clive Cussler...The action movie book writer.
I read everything with Dirk Pitt in it (What a name!), and stopped after Dirk retired.
I didn't feel like getting to know a whole new Character, that was essentially the same (No offence to Kurt).
Sahara was ok, for a popcorn flick. They should probably do more.

On topic, I wouldn't mind seeing 'The Fighter's Heart' by Sam Sheridan done as a movie.
It'd be tricky, seeing as it's more of a recounting of his travels to learn about fighting, but I think it could be done.
The book was fantastic, though. Highly recommended for anyone who is a fan of MMA or UFC, or even people who don't know much about it (I certainly didn't). Changed my whole perspective on the sport. I'm actually interested in it now.

Consider Phlebas by Iain M. Banks.
It's more action oriented than his other books and there is enough for a film. Humour, a love interrest etc.

1) the entire starfist series, never heard of it, go look it up. this is top notch military sci-fi.

2)halo the fall of reach, yes, i still want the fucking halo movie!!!

3) world war Z, 'nuff said.

4) the entire mortal engines series, tell me one a post apocalyptic movie were city's roll around on giant tracks and eat each other for resource would not be awsome.

there are some problems with adapting starfist because in most of the novels most of the main characters are invisible for most of the novels. i would sign on ridley scott to be the director

for halo i would get neil blomcamp (not how his name is spelled, but too lazy to look it up) to direct

for world war z i would get the king of zombie horror him self george romero

and i have no clue who should direct mortal engines.

Took the words right from my mouth. Don't really need to say much more after this.

only good movie adaption I can think of is Starship Troopers.
but it's a bit unlike the book :p thus being an 'adaption'

apart from that, I agree. No more please. (movie adaptions, not posts :p)
