Alright so Im not sure if anyone seen this already and its old news but I noticed that aside from the premium membership dlc which I wholeheartedly agree on the folks at Gearbox are selling a "season pass" and from what I gather this pass is basically to allow players to acsess dlc campaigns as they come out in the coming months... so my question is. Is this a good or bad thing? Its not day one DLC but rather a promise of that to come and a chance to pay for it early... Thoughts?

If it saves money in the long run I like the idea.. also gives them a bit of extra cash to use on producing content (I'd hope!).

The only problem I have with the Borderlands 2 one is that it doesn't say on the steam store page how much we'll save in the long run, so I haven't bought it yet. It just says 'discounted price', that could mean $5 for all I know, and some of the content packs I might not want.

Still excited about the game though... 1 day and 4 hours left here in Aus to wait... damn you time! tick faster!

It's great if you love the game, Battlefield 3 has a similar process where you become a 'premium member' and it saves a bit in the long run. The fact that I knew I was going to buy all the dlc anyway made the decision much easier.

Everyone else does it. It's proven to make money. And besides, it's not that different from people pre-ordering the game and getting the new class...

...as soon as they're done making it.

Yeah, makes sense to me.
I'll still probably end up waiting until the GOTY thing comes out regardless.

If it truly was Day-1 DLC they couldn't fit into the base game for some laughable excuse, then it would most definitely not be okay. (Bonus dickhead points if it's on-disc dlc.)

In this case however, it seems that the future DLC is genuinely not done yet. But we know it's in the works, and that it will be coming. So they're letting us pay now, if we have the spare cash to and deem it worthy enough for a purchase, for all the future DLC in one season pass.

I don't really have a problem with it. It gives us time to sink our teeth into the base game, and really see if it's worth buying more of it - while Gearbox continues working on the DLC.

I have no problem with this, simply because it's more of a pre-order than selling withheld content.

Considering the quality of the original Borderlands DLC (baring Moxxies Underdome) it isn't that much of a stretch they would make some for the next instalment.

They also get bonus points for the DLC not being cut content from the vanilla game.

Unpopular opinion time. Yay.

I think it's kind of a dick move to release ANYTHING other than the actual game at launch because people already feel like they're not getting the whole experience. Admittedly, this isn't nearly as bad as on-disc or day one, but you should be able to feel like you're not missing out on anything if you simply buy the game. Cynically, I would say this is a large part about making people aware that there will be more content, but also allowing people to buy everything at launch whether they know how good an investment it is or not (again, admittedly, Borderlands tends to get it pretty good, but still). Which is also why I don't like Whatever's Editions unless it is made retroactively because it is worthy of it, not as a marketing gimmick straight out the door.

Pitchfork time. Yay.
