Seriously Gearbox? Not only do you kill my favorite character, but the only black guy in the game?

No, it isn't ok to kill him off because he's my favorite character. The fact that they've killed off the only black guy in the game is even worse. Seriously.

Ya, I didn't like it when they killed Roland either. The worst thing was that I knew it was coming. I was more pissed though when Jack killed Bloodwing.

I got pretty pissed myself. Not in a "screw you Gearbox" way, but a "I'M GONNA KILL THE SHIT OUT OF JACK" way.

It wasn't as sad as for me but when Bloodwing got killed, I was sad. It's probably because I played Mordecai the most in the first game.

I'm also very hesitant in killing Jack (I haven't finished the game but I suppose he dies anyway) because he seems to be this delusional villain that thinks he's protecting everyone. I thinks he's one of the best villains in video game history in fact.

So the fact that he's black matters?

Because it's a common trope that the token black guy is the one that get's killed. Roland is the only black guy in the borderlands universe and they killed him. It's like every bad horror movie ever written.

Sir Hammerlock would like a word with you. Y'know, that black, British, cyborg, homosexual guy with the fancy moustache.

I was kinda pissed too when that happened, in the fact that he killed my main character and that he killed Roland. I laughed after the fact (a few minutes later when I realized) that it was kinda the black guy dies first trope.

But then again he was the leader of sanctuary and the resistance so it was only logical. Also the black guy dies first trope doesn't usually have the black guy as a figurehead, he's usually just a side character like Token from South Park

Really? I can't really tell because of the artsy style of the game but he certainly looks black to me.

Oh, so he's a token character.
Here I was sad that a character I liked died, but it seems I should actually have been outraged because he's black.
I'm sorry, I was mistaken in not giving a shit about his skin colour.

They really made him a great villain. Although I heard somewhere you get to see his real face when you beat him, and when I uppercutted him as the final blow I forgot to check. That uppercut was soooo satisfying.

But yeah, I kind of felt the original ending was supposed to be in Control Core Angel and then the writers added on. Everything kinda clicked into place there, and it seemed like a bigger climax than killing the warrior.

EDIT:Also, I felt this game was way darker than the previous. Some of the dialogue was out there. But it was still a fantastic game.

Did they ever mention why he wouldn't spawn at a New-U station?
I'm gonna guess because they are controlled by Hyperion and they locked his genetic code from using them again. Although that would bring up why they didn't lock yours but then again the hero never cannonically dies in games, game overs breaking the fourth wall only.

There is a quest where Jack will pay you to kill yourself, after which he laughs at you and calls you a ***** when you respawn.

I'm rather disappointed that at the end, Roland didn't appear out of nowhere and kill Jack, then have all the original vault hunters go "We thought you were dead, man!" Roland just cooly quips "What, you think the New-U doesn't work for me anymore?" The other hunters go "Oh yeah, I forgot about that. It's been so long since the last time I died."

Woulda been hilarious. And since the game runs on jokes, I'm sad that wasn't used. Oh well. Maybe he'll come back and do that in a DLC or something. As is, I find his death unnecessary, since it feels like he died just to make us hate Jack more. I'm sorry, but my capacity to hate that fucking douchebag was capped out when he blew off Bloodwing's head.

On that Bloodwing note, I love the little banter Roland and Lilith have when you return from the preserve. They talk about the glitch in BL1 where you would throw out Bloodwing and it'd just fly around in circles doing nothing instead of killing enemies. Freaking hilarious. Loved how they handled that.
