I'm excited as h3ll!!!!!

I'm hoping there will be some actual character development in this one rather than just the four characters with unique abilities.

The story better not be "It's 200 years later, get to the vault again"

I don't think anyone played Borderlands 1 for the story, nor do I think anyone will really care what the story is in Borderlands 2 (seriosuly... why do so many people think games HAVE to have a good story to be fun?). So long as we get a nice, big sandbox world with tons of "phat lewtz" and mushy enemies to be enjoyed with a few friends, then it will be more or less successful.

I would like to see character customization (as in make your own character... not just recolor the one given to you), as well as more involved RPG elements. Come to think of it... more customization as a whole would add a good bit to the game. Oh, and better driving controls.

Im sure it will be, just in an ironic way. Well, as long as theres more guns, who even payed that much attention to the story with all the loot for the taking.

Who really paid attention to the story anyway? For me it was all about killing stuff with crazy ass guns. And as long as there's more crazy ass guns in the sequel, I'm getting it.

Maybe we'll be able to open the Vault this time. Yes? Maybe? No?

And perhaps let each character's story be more than a paragraph that is totally forgotten after the intro.

this is true. I play the game just to hop into a world and shoot up stuff, don't even pay attention to the missions and and stuff unlike WoW where I actually would read the quest descriptions.

I don't really know how I feel about this.

Borderlands was a great game but, for the sequel, I feel Gearbox has to do something radically different rather than just rehashing everything about the first game. The problem here is that I don't see what they can change and have it still feel like 'Borderlands'.

Perhaps this was a game that shouldn't get a sequel.

That being said, I would love to be proven wrong.

i want to see the characters from the first one of course, only perhaps you don't just play as one of them...
no!
you get to roam pandora with ai partners (who get replaced with people in co-op) who are the people from the first game, you have full control of their loadouts, and equipment. there are 4 new fortune hunters on pandora, you assume the role of one of them. they have different classes than the characters of the first game, so they could be specialist (soldier-type character), scout (hunter-type character), support (berserker-type character) and telepath (siren-type character), maybe? they'd all have different special abilities than the previous characters, and each would even use a different grenade type, maybe? anyway, the story could be: so you heard the vault was opened, and decided to go check out pandora. you meet a team of fortune hunters claiming to have been the ones who opened the vault and unleashed hell upon pandora but quickly defeated the demon that sprang from the vault. now they are hunted by the crimson lance with massive bounties on their heads, so now deadly mercenaries and raiders are looking for them, too. you volunteer to aid them in their journey. the main objective is to clear your name, defeat the enemies on your trail, and get off pandora. but most importantly, hoard a big stash of guns, kick ass and have fun. that's my idea.
