I have been playing games since I was a small child. Playing on my sega genesis. But now.....there is like no games at all that interest me. Every game just feels like all the older games I played with better graphics. Iam in a slump for video games right now, and I am wondering if other people feel the same way. Last game I bought was street fighter 4 on the 360. And it got boring really quickly as well.

Reinvent your game! *thankyou one tree hill*

worrying TV preferences aside, try expanding into different genres. If you've never tried something before, the obvious solution is to try it out. at the very least, you'll get a little entertainment out of it.
If you haven't tried it, play Sins of a solar empire. i know i rant and rave about what a good game it is, but if you're at this stage, anything's worth a shot.
(I feel like im talking someone out of a suicide here...)

Find a new hobby, then. There's no point in doing something that no longer interests you, right?

Try adventure games! The Longest Journey, or Dreamfall if the dated graphics turn you off.

Learn an instrument. Or become a pimp! Or take up drugs...

I have more suggestions if anyone need 'em.

The solution is to play older games; that's what I do. I got bored of most modern games quite a long time ago, and most of the games I play now were designed for Windows 98. I think the newest game I still actually play is Oblivion, and I haven't even played that one in months.

Seriously, go to GOG, or pick up some of the re-released old games off Amazon. You can get Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics really cheap now, and you'll sink a lot of time into those. Go back to when gaming was better and there was still some originality in the industry. Play old games.

I became a sax-playing-sex-getting-herion-junkie years ago, and I can't look back at my playstation since.

If you still have your PS2 or an XBOX then last gen games are going for pennies these days. Take a chance on all those titles you've ignored in the past or just take a break. I'm the other way. I'm so into my gaming at the moment I haven't sat down to watch a film in months.

Before that, I was the same as you. Could not be arsed with games at all.
Maybe you just need a break. Stop feeling like you need to / should be play/ing games

You can always take up MMOGs, or Sims. Then, all the other games will seem shit in comparison :D
I actually still pay for wow. And even that is boring now. Iam just waiting for Stor mmo to come out. WoW got boring fast, and most other mmo's are fail.

Here's a few suggestions for "different games" from my personal library:

Puzzle Quest The illegitimate lovechild of a turn based RPG and bejeweled. I had a friend who didn't sleep for a week because of that game.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Good dialog, story and setting. The combat suffers from action-RPG soggy cardboard syndrome, where you can shoot a normal human in the face - and he'll shrug it off, and it pretty much requires community patches to play. Regardless, you might want to look it up.
Sam and Max Episodic games featuring everyone's favorite dog and hyper-kinetic rabbit thing (Lagomorph!). Also see the Strong Bad Episodes, if you're savy with Homestar.
Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble Unique gameplay; won a few writer's awards. You might want to check it out.

I have definetly noticed that, it seems that game companies try to heip up there games just to disapoint us. I seems that there is a slum of bad game's out there and that the few games that are going in a new direction are just getting put to the side and seen as bad games just beause there different. (mirrors edge)Especially gears of war 2, it got so much heip that i bought it and wanted my money back after about 3 hours (when the game showed it's true colors, or i guess not because IT HAS NO COLOR AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!)That game had the laggiest and worst ballenced multiplayer I've ever played. (exept HAWX) Plus 2008 was a year filled to the top with sequells because game developers don't want to come out of there safe dark corners. I'm just waiting for a game thats different and good (like brutal legends). The only sequel I'm looking foward to is HALF-Life 2 Episode 3 or whatever Valve dcides to call it. But overall I've decided to not get excited about any games anymore because it leads to dissapointment more than 60% of the time.

Aside: You know, just because we don't like every game being brown and gritty doesn't mean it's not appropriate for some games. It'd be just as bad if every game had vivid Super Mario Katamari colours. If it's appropriate to the game, it's fine. In a post-apocalyptic setting, it's fine.

You might as well fault the original Fallout for being all brown and gritty.

Happened to me around age 23. I came back to the fold. Don't take too long though you may miss some great games.

Just take a break from gaming altogether. I got burned out with gaming (especially FPS) in college. So I took a break for a couple months, and now playing some of those "tired, old games" is fun and interesting again.

You could try getting other hobbies, so your life isn't revolving around gaming so much. (I know, that's blasphemy...go ahead and burn me at the stake).
